It's becoming a lost skill, unfortunately. I just find them so much more fun and entertaining to drive, gives me something to do.
But they aren't for everyone.

I always had fun when I had mine. But they suck in traffic, adds one more thing to complicate driving while intoxicated, and makes it tricky to eat while driving.

I solved the fun to drive part by buying a luxury car with an extremely powerful engine, advanced automatic transmission and all wheel drive.

Really great stuff !!!

Woops! Quoted the wrong post! This was for @camonick

Yup. Everything with a motor and 2 wheels has a hand clutch!

Some old tractors didn’t have a foot pedal for clutching, instead they had a big hand clutch lever, often referred to as a suicide clutch. They could be quite sensitive and when the seats were positioned above the drawbar on the old tractors, the operator could be thrown from the seat when the machine lurched forward and run over and killed by the implement he was pulling since it was positively engaged.

My most memorable motorcycle wreck was when I was forced off the road by a car in a curve. Took it into a plowed field with really BIG, HARD clods. Broke off the clutch handle among other various parts and pieces. Had to wrap the clutch cable around the mirror to drive it home.

I actually bought an 03 Echo just to go back and forth to work. Great car. $11/fill up/every 2 weeks at the time. It was the last manual on the lot.
An old “3 on the tree”. Had one as well. Last manual I bought was in ‘06 and it wasn’t easy to find.
This 9.5% Belgian Quad has potential.
