It really not that I can't find great beers because you are right, I live about 15 minutes from Portland and I'm surrounded by brew pubs. I was a mug club member of a local brew pub for 12 years and my closest friend's sister and her husband founded Oxbow brewery. He is also a friend of the owner of Novare Res which I've been to a few times. I also spent quite a lot of time at the Great Lost Bear when I was younger but I'm older now and retired and I don't really fit in with the younger crowds that have taken over most of the popular places. So, until I get my brewing area finished up and start brewing again I'll settle for my cheap Bass and use the money I save to buy ingredients. Cheers:)
Ha! Same boat but when there's great beer I fit right in

My man, beer brings us all together. age doesn’t matter as you would think. I’ve had great conversation with people from all different back grounds and age groups. I’ve found that beer is the great equalizer that we all have an interest. I’m a Carhartt wearing 29 year old from an agricultural background and one of the guys I talk the most about beer with is a 68 year old hippy that owns a small 2 bbl brewery on the back of his property named, Honey Hollow Brewing Co. Ive learned so much great beer and brewing information through our friendship and not to mention he gives great life advice since he’s lived and experienced much of the things I’m going through as young man. I say just stop back in your old stomping grounds and open up a conversation.

Spent part of the day at Back Bay Brewing again. Met one of Brewers from Richmond Stone. Gave me her card with an invite to come by for a tour and some beers. I love craft beer.
