Crowler #2! Starting to prepare dinner and jammin out! These guys nailed it. Truly feel they did it better than Waylon!

Nice looking beer! How are the Ella hops? I have a couple ounces to experiment with but nothing really planned for them.
I've gone through a pound...Ella is good as an accent hop. Mainly floral, never got the citrus that the description states. It does give some depth to both WC and NE IPAs. This particular beer also has El Dorado, Idaho 7, and a bit of Galaxy. So if you've got a few ounces then add it in as a filler for some of the banger hops :) . It would really add something to a Citra and/or Mosaic IPA.

HB NEIPA: Citra, I7, Strata. Tried this one with a different yeast, Sundew. Its "ok" but prob won't use again for an NEIPA. Still solid beer though.

Other Half’s R&D location has been making a lot of IPAs with Sundew yeast. Personally I haven’t been a fan of those beers.

Yeah, I was taken by the "red-berry" notion, particularly strawberry. I was hoping to pull some of the purported strawberry out of the strata (which I have never been able to detect). Pre-dry hop, I definitely got some of the red-berry vibe but probably more of the raspberry type, but it kinda clashed and wasn't that complimentary with the citrus/orange/passion fruitiness I typically get from the hop combo of Citra/I7/Strata. I also got some dank from this lot of strata too which further clashed with sundew IMO. The hop combo, Ive done 3-4 times and its still a good beer, just not what I was going for. Just seems a little clumsy.

I like how Huell Melon brings strawberry to the table.

In the interest of comforting evacuees from hurricane Ira I turned some good brothers from Louisiana on to an Omme Gang Three Philosophers to help them get into hurricane party mode. They were impressed, then returned the favor by turning me on to a Divers Down Imperial Red Ale. Man they are both great beers. May God be with those who stayed behind during this tragic weather event but over here in the Panhandle IMG_20210829_160753775.jpgwe're doing what we do when a hurricane comes, having a hurricane party.
