Just made it to Telluride, CO from Mesa Verde Nat'l Park (awesome spot). Been reading about beer, now it's time to find some beer.

Quick questions. I'm brewing Thursday morning and I'm doing a starter for this one. I've never done a starter before so how far ahead should I do it?

#1 Son had some beers left over from his family's vacation up in the White Mountains and we popped a few when they stopped by on the way home. Hoponius Union is always a store-bought favorite here. Otoh, Left Hand Nitro Stout is "ok". Seems a bit thin, I like my stouts chewy...

Cheers!

Your palette sucks......better?

[insert some joke about his pallet having better taste than your palate]

Drinking seltzer water.

Thanks guys, but no one does it quite like Gabe. :p

I'll question your abilities. not just your beer tasting ones either.:rockin:

Your mom never complained...

I'm sure the almighty mr malty would probably say otherwise, but what has always worked for me with liquid yeast is to make a small starter of 2 cups water and 1/4 cup DME the day before if your yeast is fresh. If the yeast is getting closer to its use by date, I do a 1 quart starter with 1/2 cup DME a couple days before. This method has always worked great for me.

I'd start today because I prefer to decant. I don't temp control my starters and while that small amount probably won't affect the beer itself, I just prefer to cold crash and decant if I have time.

Water. Nothing until after 11.
