That does sound (and look) delightful. I'm planning a modern hoppy ale again and I don't have a lot of experience with Mosaic, do you mind me asking what your ratios are? I'm assuming the hop schedule leans on the whirlpool and dry hops?

With simple recipes such as this, i often eschew the 20 min WP for a "very" late hop addition during the boil. Mainly due to trying to diminish overall brewing time. It doesn't seem to effect the end result...

fwiw, my Julius clone (based on the HBT recipe but using just 1318 yeast) uses Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe 1:1:1, with front-end IBUs from CTZ.

For a ten gallon batch:
T60 1 oz CTZ
T5 1 oz each Citra/Mosaic/Simcoe
WP 20min @170 2oz each Citra/Mosaic/Simcoe
DH 4oz each Citra/Mosaic/Simcoe for 2 days

[edit] I think those three character hops constitute one of the "Holy Trinities" of hazy brewing...

Another from the deep cellar. I’m progressing through the OG Vertical Epic series so here’s the next one:

Stone Vertical Epic 07.07.07
Honey golden. A little Belgian fruit, pears, with a little bit of pepper. Malt is honey sweet. Hops are basically non existent. Well past its prime. I’m glad this is the last bottle of this one I have laying around. It’s definitely not getting any better with more age!

“Black IPA” cleared up nicely. I’ve been loving Eclipse hops. I hadn’t used them until this year but the piney + dank + grapefruit pith is perfect here.

Tried a bottle of the Doppelbock I brewed in March and bottled 3 weeks ago. Carbonation is good, flavor decent, but I intend to "bottle lager" in my basement crawlspace for several months. Should be good late summer or early fall.

It is, and it worked. But this is a pretty crisp modern WCIPA so the "dank" is understated. I do have a NEIPA kegged a week ago and the sample was great, with a lot more hop expression. I'll get on tap in a few weeks...I named that one "Dank Juice". Cheers! Rick

Experiment of sorts. Nearly a year ago I bottled these two beers from their kegs using my new (at the time) Tapcooler bottle filler. Finally opened them today to see how bad or good they are.

They both tasted exactly how I remember them from last summer. Held their carbonation fine, yet each had a quickly receding head.

You know just because you call something a Festbier, doesn’t mean it is. Never truer words said than regarding this Faux German beer, “Bavarian Kittens” by Fat Orange Cat Brew Company out of North Haven, Connecticut.

Where do I start? Well the can says Märzen-Style Lager, and it also says Festbier, or “Fest Bier!” as they put it. Bavarian Kittens is a 5.3% ABV, sort of low carbonation, no head, no lacing, orangy-color Märzen.

I’m not impressed with this one. I mean, what is it, a Festbier or a Märzen? In this case, it is definitely a Märzen needing a few improvements. Flavor is OK as a Märzen, not OK as a Festbier - again, too cloudy, too orange-color for a Festbier, the low carbonation needs help as does the head and lacing which are basically non-existent.

You know, I think some of the domestic brewers would be miles ahead to do a little research – the inset photo shows an Oktoberfest celebration with Maßkrugs of delicious Festbier. Look at the clarity, the head, the entire presentation is there. This is what Festbier should look like. Much better than this cloudy poser. Eh, pass on this one... Zurück zum Zeichenbrett!

Have long had a bucket list of beers that I've wanted to try, alot of them were the reason I got into homebrew to try the clone recipe's.

It's been a whirlwind mate.
Your right, in L.a now for the end of the trip.
Have spent the last few weeks in Flagstaff, Grand canyon, Page, Yosemite, San Francisco, San Diego and now LA.
Must say highlight wise of the trip is a toss up between the Page Colorado River area and Yosemite.
Beer wise it was a special moment to taste Pliney and Two hearted
