Well it’s been a great month, and I’ve chugged nearly every Pilsner available in the State of California, North and South, European and otherwise. My supply has dwindled all the way down to my final delicious beer. Pilsner is the leading style in Germany, and arguably historically into America, however a lot of the brews in the States that claim to be “Pilsner,” are really nothing like classic Pilsners, they are adjunct Lagers of varying types. Drink a lot of Pilsners and you get used to the style.

Well, my final brew is Weihenstephaner Pilsner, from the World’s oldest brewery, dating 1040. Think about that. 49 generations of beer-thirsty humans drinking delicious brews from the Bavarian waters at Weihenstephaner. Amazing!

I speak very highly and often of Weihenstephaner, in fact I keep a lot of Weihenstephaner 500 ml bottles for re-purposing. I bottle with their glass, it is one of my favorites, nice and dark, and sturdy.

Not this one though! Seldom do you hear from me even a whisper of negativity regarding Weihenstephaner, except WHO THE HECK ORDERED THE LIGHT-COLORED GLASS on these wimpy 11.2 ouncers? C’mon guys, I heap PLENTY of accolades upon Weihenstephaner. Today’s light-colored glass has allowed enough light in to produce a real “Skunk-a-Thon” of a beer! What a way to close out this project!!! 5.1% ABV of skunky brew. That’s OK, I’ll drink it anyway!!!! Prost!

Has anyone heard from @grampamark over the past few months? I miss seeing his posts. I hope all is well.

OT: a sample of the peach moonshine. Dangerously smooth. 🤤

I think we're worried. His very last post I saw was Christmas day and was very upbeat. Something happened...
I’ve been concerned too. He posted multiple times daily in several different threads. I’ve been trying to do a little research but haven’t learned anything yet.

I saw that one too ☹️
I think @MaxStout has visited him before, but I may be confusing it with another past post. @grampamark , we hope all is well with you and your family!

I tried to PM him a month or so ago, but no answer. I could try to text him on his cell.

Hello HBT folks. I got a text from @MaxStout a little while ago, inquiring as to my location relative to the top of the ground so I thought I should check in here.

I brewed my most recent batch on Jan.16, a Mosaic Blonde, and posted about it here which was probably the last time I checked in. A week to the day after that I suffered a stroke. Spent 5 days in the hospital, of which I have no memory, and have spent the last couple of months shuttling between various medical appointments and physical therapy sessions. I had a Dr. appointment this morning and he was pleased with my progress. So, I continue to wake up still not dead every morning and the prognosis is that I should continue to do so.

I’ve been exploring the wonderful world of NA beer. I’m happy to report that there is no shortage of non-alcoholic male beverages beverages which taste very much like beer. I’m going to look into brewing NA beer so I can continue to brew. I did keg the Blonde a week, or so, ago to get it off the yeast after almost two months. The carb sampls tasted OK despite being on the yeast that long. So, I have HB to serve others while I stick with the unleaded stuff. I’m lucky to not have any significant, long term, effects from the stroke so I’m not about to jump off the wagon.

Thanks to those who noticed my absence and wondered what had happened. I’m still on the right side of the dirt and hope to stay there as long as I can. 🍻
