What are you drinking now?

I was really looking forward to today’s blender, a can of Voodoo Ranger Juice Force 9.5% ABV IPA with a can of Bud Zero, making it a drinkable 4.75% ABV light IPA. Or so I thought.

Pour the Bud – everything is OK and Golden in the World. Pour the Juice Force and a bunch of trub, crud, yeasty end of fermenter junk fills my glass.

I’ve never had a New Belgium that ever had an issue. Just goes to show so much of this QC stuff is really in the hands of the crew tending the fermenters, over in bottling, or half a dozen other tasks. Just one of them screws up and you get this.

I tasted it, seems all OK. So what do I do here, gulp down all this gastrointestinally active yeasty stuff, or do we dump? Eh? Juice Force sounds like my trip to the John after drinking this. PASS!

Ugh.

The first time I tried Delirium Tremens, I had a similar experience. Since it came in an opaque bottle, I couldn't see what was coming out until it came out. My glass held a cloudy beer with what looked like a layer of lumpy gravy floating on top.

I didn't want to waste it, so I poured it through a strainer into another glass.

It was an ok beer. My first and last DT.

A month ago or so, I had a KBS "spicy chocolate" barrel aged beer, and thought: this might be my favor-it-est ever. It was bottled 26-dec-2023. Yesterday, I saw KBS "the original" barrel aged beer (bottled 10-sep-2024) and grabbed a 4 pack (ouch, my wallet!)... Anyways, this beer is also fantastic -- who needs spiced beer, when you're eating spicy pizza?

On a side note, anyone got any ideas for cloning this beer?

Making bread dough, and a pumpkin pie, not drinking any beer yet… coffee definitely not from waste water, unless you mean technically. I don’t know what percentage of water on Earth has passed through and other critters, but recycled water is all we have.

Hydrometer sample of the Nut Brown Ale I brewed a couple weeks ago, tastes good can't wait for it to carb up. Hit all my numbers. Wasn't sure what to expect going into it, first time fermenting with CS English yeast.

I’ve been looking forward to this all day. Pilsner! Today’s chug is one of my favorites around here, Radeberger Pilsner. Yes, it’s a youngster, only brewed for 150 years. Only German brews can be youngsters at 150 years – some of them go back to the 9th century!

Yet I’m gazing at the Radeberger can – 150 years old in in 2022? Wow, that must mean this has been lagered for over two years? I am impressed!

OK, I see that’s just the can they are using, not some statement about lagering in caves for 2 years. They’re probably using up all the 2022 cans on us dopes here in the States. 2022 cans would be too much of a statement close to home I guess.

Nevertheless, this is a great Pilsner! Go buy this, it is fantastic. I did a heads-up comparison to Paulaner a while back, and these are interchangeable! Prost!
