Very hot out today and while unpacking boxes in the bar I ran across my copper mugs. I have plenty of Vodka, ginger beer and lime on hand so you know what that means, Moscow Mules, oh so cold and so refreshing. Now if I can just finish unpacking things.

Recently made a Kolsch and during transfer to corney keg I seen this bug. I don't know how it got in primary bucket as it was closed lid.
It wasn't floating but half way down clinging to bucket which gave me concern it got in during the finished wort transfer from the boil.
I hoped it got boiled up and just kegged it anyway. It's my first Kolsch so can't relate the taste to another of mine.
It tastes ok though like other Kolsch I've had. No hint of infection. But I'll not reuse this yeast.
I don't know what kind of bug it is. Maybe a young japanese beetle, stinkbug, or ?
If it was a roach, I'd toss it. Too gross for me and I'm not from Texas

🤢🤮
I agree on some kind of beetle. Not a stink bug. They are more triangular and grey colored.

I don’t know how it tastes, but it sure does look like a Guinness.

Btw, I have no doubt it’s delicious.
Looks can be deceiving. It’s an ok beer, but I’ve pretty much given up trying to make it a Guinness. I need to focus more on a good dry stout recipe and work with it. I’ve been trying so many weird things, I need to back up and stick with the basics.
