I found a European Sampler Pack at Sam's Club last weekend, and it contained a six-pack of beer I'd never heard of before - Tyskie. It also had a sixer of Pilsner Urquell and Peroni. I could've done without the Peroni, but Urquell is always good, and I really wanted to try the Tyskie. My review:

Appearance:
Very light, crystal clear straw color with a two-finger pillowy white head. Very effervescent with lots of bubbles rushing to the surface. Great lacing.

Aroma:
Clean, characteristic pilsner aroma - a touch of hops, a touch of very light malt - reminds me very much of Czechvar and Pilsner Urquell.

Flavor:
Clean, just like the aroma. Fairly classic pilsner up front with clean maltiness, but lacking in hops for a pils. Clean finish with a very slight metallic aftertaste. Reminds me of Miller High Life...but it's a better beer than that. Quite refreshing.

Mouthfeel:
What can I say? It's kind of a yellow fizzy beer, and the moutfeel is just that. Light body, fairly high in carbonation - exactly what I'd expect.

Overall:
If I could find this on a regular basis, I'd keep it in the fridge for my BMC friends. It'd be familiar enough for them yet provide just a touch more flavor. I enjoyed this one, and I'll enjoy every one of the six-pack...perhaps in one evening! Sessionable for sure...dare I say a rather expensive lawnmower beer?

Interesting to hear, but not surprising. You would think with such a long agricultural heritage, there would be better Polish beers out there. At least some of the vodka is killer.

I'll Second Yuri's comments.

I tell you when in Poland it is the stuff to drink. There are no ales.
Plenty of Pilsners to choose from ale at around $1 a pop.
Pilsner and Vodka with lots of pretty girls serving. (And Tractors)
Beetroot and cabbage soup.
Gotta love Poland. I'm going Back ASAP.

aw the ol' euro sampler. I got one of those last year, disapointing to see they dropped it down to an 18 pack, it was 24 last year. Be sure to save the Tyskie bottles the lables come off soooo easily. I soaked them in water and the labels all kinda fell off by themselves. I wish all breweries would use whatever Tyskie does to label their bottles.

Blast from the past is this thread I suppose! I'm currently testing a selection of bottled beers to see which I will invest in, primarily for the purpose of sourcing bottles for my own home brew. Just finishing first bottle of Tyskie and agree completely with reviewer above. What was even better to read was that the labels come off easily! I can get it here for €1.79 for 500ml bottle as opposed to €1 per bottle for bottles delivered from UK. Looking forward to working my way through 35 of these Polish beauties now!

I've never seen Tyskie but from reading your review, that's exactly how I would describe another Polish beer, Zywiec! To me, it is the perfect beer that the BMC beers SHOULD be, if you're in the mood for that type of brew.

The labels comment is also interesting - I've been saving Zywiec bottle for a year because of how easily the labels come off, and also because I buy the 500 mL bottles and I like those better.
