... I drove by 2 Bros. this morning since I had an appointment in Warrenville. I was surprised at how remote it is from the main road. The lots weren't plowed. The door was locked. I didn't see much activity. ...

What time was that? According to their website, they don't open until 11:00am. I know the Coop never opened until ~noon at the old place.

It was early, 9:45. I guess I was expecting more activity at the building since it's a brewery, restaurant and homebrew shop. There were about 4 cars in the lot, but the building looked quiet.

Saw a news story on WLS-TV last night about new research on the health benefits of beer and Jim, Jason and the new brewery were featured pretty prominently. I posted it here.

I saw that too. So my motto now is "Drink Beer and Feel Better!"

We saw that report last night too. Good move by channel 7 to promote the story during "Lost".

SWMBO is looking like a no go on saturday. She's got a paper to work on. I should still be a go. Though they're now calling for more snow today and saturday. Hopefully the roads wil lbe alright. Man am I tired of this...

So am I. Most snow I've seen since I was in college. But they are only calling for scattered snow showers tomorrow and a 40%-60% chance at that. So it doesn't sound like it should deter us.

On a different note, is anyone bringing any homebrew along for sampling? It had been mentioned early on, but is it even feasible to do now? I recently kegged my Damned Kids Oatmeal Stout and it turned out pretty tasty. I could bring a growler.

I don't know if they'll let us bring HB into 2 Bros. I think Joe mentioned we could use his shop, but with SWMBO along It's probably best for me to just meet at 2 Bros.

The brewer's coop is one of the drop-off spots for the UKG competitions, including the drunk monk challenge. Jim and Jason do alot to support the local homebrewing community, so I would think they'd allow homebrew. But, you could always call before hand.

All I have on-hand is a mild/northern brown (which most eveyone's already had) and under-lagered marzen. I have a scotch ale in secondary, a cream ale and oatmeal stout in primary. So, no homebrew for me, unless anyone wants me to bring my mild again.

Hey, I liked that mild!

I won't be able to call them b/w now and then. So, what I might do is bring a growler and leave it in the trunk of the car - maybe just see how things go.

I entered the DMC year before last, but skipped last year b/c I didn't have anything ready in time. Might try this year.

I think the end of this month is the deadline for entries.

What are you going to enter?
Probably the oatmeal stout I just kegged. It's the only thing I have ready right now that I think is worth entering. I did an amber recently, but I'm still on the fence about it.

I wasn't planning on entering anything ... I really don't like the whole competition thing, but I might reconsider. Wouldn't mind having some formal feedback on some of my beers.

I might enter my cream ale and my stout (not sure if I'd add vanilla & bourbon or not). gotta see how they turn out.

Ya, lots of fun. It was kinda BS that we didn't get to take the tour, but the beer was pretty good and the food wasn't bad either.

We had a great time. Got there at noon and left at 6:00. They still have to work out some kinks at 2 Bros. Taphouse, but that was their first dine-in lunch they did, so we'll cut them some slack. It was too bad we didn't get the tour, but they were short on staff. Guess we'll have to go back some day.:D

It was good to see some old faces and meet some new ones. Looking forward to next time!

Cheers!
:mug:

Yeah, it was good to see everyone again. Next time we'll have to make sure we have arrangements for a tour and call it an "official event" so that we can bring HB in and do a bit of a swap/tasting. Or, we'll meet up at Joe's shop and do a swap there.

Good time. Nice to meet a few of you finally. I'm enjoying the last of my Cane & Ebel growler right now, though its gone a little flat. SWMBO and I took care of most of it while watching a movie last night. I think I cut out at the right time. Scored the last growler before they ran out and if I would've stayed until 6:00 I think I would've been heading for drunken territory.

Yeah, they have some kinks to work out at the Tap House, but the beers are great and the Mac & Cheese I had was pretty darn good. I'll be back. Taking SWMBO with me next time. She was happy with that take home C&E though.

Yeah, that stuff looked tasty. Kelly & I opted for the pizza and it was really good. Hopefully, things will run smoother with time.

It was good to see everyone and to meet some new people. We'll have to do it again. Maybe Lunar Brewing next time!

This thread is great.
I was turned on to 2bros via the Heavy Handed last OCT. when I purchased a 1/2bbl after trying a 6pack.
I've been excited for their new location since and am planning on getting out there asap.
Had plans for this Sat., March 1st but due to other commitments that came up, cannot make it now.
So, April will have to do I guess....

Interesting new news on their site:

Due to huge attendance volumes, tours are now EVERY Saturday at 1:00.

Wednesday March 5th: WOW! We had a huge amount of people come through the Tap House and to tour the brewery this weekend. Saturday was way busier than we ever expected. On one of the tours I was speaking at the top of my lungs and I know the people in the back still could not hear me. Sorry to those of you who did not get samples after the tour due to the Tap House being so busy. We have re-evaluated the way tours are done on many levels and I think we have fixed the issues. As you can see, one thing that should help is that we will now have tours every weekend. Also, we have doubled our serving staff. This was not only in response to the slow service but also because I came in to have lunch with my family and ended up working behind the bar for 2 1/2 hours just to help keep up a little bit. I think things will run a lot smoother from here on out.

We will be having our first beer event at the Tap House on Sunday March 16th starting at 5:00. We will be tapping our Monarch White Beer in celebration of our 11th anniversary. So, come join us for free food and great beer as we tap the Monarch White Beer for only the 12th time. Monarch White 6-packs will be available early the following week.

Costco is starting today. By the end of the week we will be in all the Illinois locations with our new variety pack case. We created a beautiful, full color case box for them with the four different beers displayed on the case. Grab it while you can.

Cheers

The website still says they're hiring, but I haven't heard back from them. It's been a long time, next time I stop by I'll ask about it.
