Has anybody tried harvesting yeast from the traveler beer co. I was going to email them and ask if it was viable but wanted to throw it out here quickly.
I know they're a spin off from Sam Adams and Sam's has typically filtered or used different bottling yeast, so I wonder if they'll be doing the same. Since they're mainly focused on doing Wit's and the yeast is a major component of Wit's I'm hoping it can be harvested.
I actually still have a case plus a few bottles of their Time Traveler so I have plenty of bottles I can harvest from. I was planning to do at least 3 or 4 Wits next year, I've liked the citrus yeast character from their beers so far, so if it can be harvested it might be what I use. Otherwise its looking like I'll go with WY3944, build a big starter and store in tubes or mason jars.
