To those with Chonical fermenters and sample valves..

I've decided to upgrade the racking ball valve on my fermentor to a sample valve.

Here is my question, do you drain from the sample valve to keg (or whatever type of vessel you drain too) using the sample valve or do you drain from the dump valve?

If you drain from the sample valve, how long does it take?

I was thinking of putting a sanitary butterfly valve on the fermentor first then the sample valve that way I can remove the sample valve from the triclamp and replace it with a barb connector with a hose.

I fill kegs from the sample Ball valve with Barb to 1/2 hose to the bottom of the keg by gravity. 5 gallons takes just a few minutes

I do the same but I have quick disconnects. I hate forcing tubing on and off hose barbs.

I have a ball valve now, but replacing it with a True triclamp sample valve, different than the ball valve.
