Today I brewed my first all grain beer. My OG was exactly how I wanted, 1.065. Wanted to do a 4.5 gallon batch but ended doing a 4 gallon. Pitched 1 pack of safeale-05. Do you think it was to much?

Ohhh thank's!

What do you think about the recipe, it's a simple one, a single hop Amarillo:

4.5 pounds Pale Ale 2-row
1 pound Munich

2 oz Amarillo - 60 min
1 oz Amarillo - 15 min
0.5 oz Amarillo - 5 min

IBU - 65
OG - 1.065
FG -

Gonna be very bitter with little or no hop aroma unless you dry hop.. Save those expensive hops for late additions and use something like warrior, centennial for bittering. Use a higher alpha acid hop for bittering, I use less than an oz for bittering on my IPAs, then go heavy at 10, 5, 1, and flame out.

I with the same amount of hops I would have done

.75 oz at 60
1.25 at 10
2 at flameout

That would give a lot more hop character and would tell you a lot more about the hops

Thank's for the advice. I wanted my beer to be a bit more bitter that is why i used 2 oz at 60 min. Actually I used about 0.65oz insted of 0.5 at 5 min. The beer is fermenting and the aroma is surely present and it's very nice.

I can't find either warrior or centennial here in Romania. But hopefully I will get a drinkable beer.
