So I'll be in WI for the first time with work this week and am looking for suggestions on some places to check out. Flying into Milwaukee tomorrow late afternoon (Monday) - any good bottle shops to hit, then get some dinner and local beers? I already plan on stopping by Discount Liquors. Then driving to Waukesha for the night.

Tuesday evening I'll be in Beloit before driving back to the airport in Milwaukee on Wednesday. Any places to go in Beloit or to stop by on my way back to Milwaukee? Mostly looking for stuff I can't get here in PA, especially New Glarus and maybe even Toppling Goliath if I can track it down, both of which I haven't had any yet. Thanks for the help.

Carbonation problem? I opened one right on the spot and it was a huge gusher. Super tasty, I have no other words to describe it, besides well done...

Never got to thank Friday tent dude, or those amazing dudes from Iowa who made that share fantastic.

I tried asking Dan what the lab found from that 10 year old Belgian Red bottle. He didn't remember. I stopped for a chat with the lab tech, but the thought to ask him never came to mind (regrettably).

http://www.talkbeer.com/community/threads/guide-to-milwaukee.12047/ - list of places to buy bottles. eat.

not sure who has toppling Goliath at the moment. discount is your best bet, though and it sounds like you'll be hitting there anyway.

Check out the Bayview area south of the city for dinner and drinks. You'll be close if you're flying into MKE. Hit Odd Duck for dinner and Burnhearts and/or Sugar Maple for drinks. Both bars update BeerMenus often.
Check the Discount on Oklahoma for TG bottles. They seem to get more quantity than the other the last time I hit both within the same 2 day stretch.
Will you be driving through Madison to get to Beloit? If so, there's a bunch of places that carry TG but i don't know much about them.

Tried the new R&D with lurchingbeast courtesy of some folks behind us in line on Saturday morning. Bright lemon acidity, mild funk, limited carbonation and a fair bit of residual sweetness. I think it needs some conditioning time before I crack one.

^^^this. Dan talked to me for 15 mins in the rain on Friday. He said that he's not thrilled with the carbonation and he doesn't think it will get to much better. Other than that it's ready to drink now.

R&D Loerik?

Fine, I'll say it. At this point, Vintage is a poor representation of a Belgian Gueuze. The sourness just isn't there. The taste is fairly nice but the complexity that the sour would add to it is not present. I won't be opening a bottle until the winter at the earliest. Judging from the past R&D releases, I have hope for it but at this point it reminds me of an enjoyable summer wheat with a little bit of lemony tartness.

The reviews on BA are absurd. The 100 rating that it has at this point is pure trade hype.

Did you mean to say, "I won't be opening another bottle until the the winter at the earliest"?

(I have not tired the beer yet and have no opinion.)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I liked it....

It wasn't my bottle that was opened. A generous person next to us opened one.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The wife and I found it on par with the new vintages of Classic Gueuze (yeah, I said it). Now, I'm calling it an equal, but I've had much sweeter and unappealing Belgian lambics (i.e. Oud Beersel) than Vintage 2014 and even worse American interpretations. Was the original Guezue release from 2010 better, yes, but that doesn't mean this won't either...

I know, write?

You got me there, I didn't even notice. That's what one gets for using their iPhone. Either way, I stand by my opinion, I didn't say this was a cure for cancer, Vintage and Classic G are both above average beers. End of story...
