Howdy!

I will be in Marshfield next month training for a new job. I'm a fan of O'so and CW, but I'm looking for new and/or unvisited breweries within an hour or so of there. Any advice? Thanks!

Wausau is close and has some decent choices. Red Eye Brewing, Bull Falls Brewery, and Great Dane. Red Eye has good beer and good food as well you should definitely check it out.

And be sure to take the drive to the top of Rib Mountain. The views are amazing.

A little farther away but Eau Claire has some good choices for food and craft beer but no breweries come to mind.

Is that brewpub formerly associated with CW, still in Marshfield?

Love how that GTMW 2014 App update that pushed to the iPhone today was dated February 2015. Does not make me feel hopeful about a timely update.

New brewery from the guys that were operating 4 Brothers (brewed at Sand Creek). Could be a nice spot between Miller Park and the Pot.

Doesn't looks like 4 Brothers was much to rave about, but maybe having their own space would help make better beer. I dunno.
That's a cool building. Also excited for Camino opening on South 2nd.

I'm almost always excited to see a new brewery open, but those 4 Brothers brews are downright terrible. I hope they are able to get there **** together and brew something decent, as it would be a shame to see such a cool building harboring a bottom tier brewery.

I would first blame Sand Creek. Most of what's coming out of there is fair to middling at best. Some of the Furthermore stuff is ok, but that's about it.

Also, I would hope that if investors are going to throw gobs of money at City Lights (and that project doesn't look cheap) that they have a proven brewmaster somewhere in their business plan. I don't think the Gohsman kid fits that bill in my opinion, but no one will stop him from being the "brewmaster" for a contract brewing operation.

Stopped by Karben4 last night, I didn't realize they had taken over the old Ale Asylum space. Anyways, I had some odd named Double IPA and it reminded me how much I don't care for IPA anything anymore these days.

Left the in-laws place in Crossplains for New Glarus at 8am, hit the brewery by 8:35am and back in the car and off to pick-up a cake at Craig's Cake Shop in Verona by 8:45am. This FIB is keeping it Wisconsin real today, off to Spring Green tonight to catch a play at APT, but gotta pick-up some provisions at Underground Butcher first...
