I'm really enjoying thinking about these great places that you guys know so well out east or have been to. Places and experiences I've always wanted to have and that juxtaposed with the kind of interesting places and things we've done out here where we live. like the grand canyon, Moab, arches np, canyonlands, mesa verde, rocky mtn np, and vail. I can picture a great firld trip to the Statue of Liberty. And place myself there young, like I was at our Museum of Natural History. Places i know so well, dear to me, like the san francisco wharf so different and yet the same as manhattan to someone else. Ok, sorry, umm hey bartender

We climbed the grand canyon. Hermit trail because it was the only one they had left. The first year they told us all the trails were filled. Later we figured out that they had other trails that you have to ask for and convince them you can handle.

5 yo boy and 3 yo girl. The kids were crazy our last road trip. We drove to st george i think it was . To go to zion np. We did the walk right out of first stop because it was insane crowded. We were rewarded for bailing by realizing that we could swim and wade in the river underneath the towering canyon walls.

Does anyone hang Xmas lights?

Used to go all out. Current house is out in the middle of nowhere. We do a big decoration including light displays inside but not outside. We take everything down on the 6th of Jan. The 12th day of Christmas.

I lived in or near D.C. For 6 years off and on. Never did WH tour while living there, but I had done as a kid. Took my kids to the Mall for long walks. Went to various Smithsonian Museums. Tour the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. The teenagers really loved seeing all the money being printed.

I have 8 children. Oldest is 27. One granddaughter, 2. My youngest is 11.

I've been pronounced positively ancient by my kids.

Wife and I decided that we're not that old, so we call ourselves "vintage".

Wish I could move back to the East Coast. Miss the great food. Seafood and Pizza mostly, but most Midwest food seems bland and American-ized.

I enjoyed my trips to the Left Coast, but never lived anywhere west of the Mississippi. We have a house in Kansas, but not a residence for us -- it's a starting place for my boys as they go to college or get their first jobs.

Gives them a place away from the control of Mom & Dad, but with a safety net in case they get financials out-of-whack.

Well, today is an official holiday at work. So, should be minimal work going on. Just watching the reactors and making electricity if all goes well.

That's the entrance we used both times. No lines just walked in and really looked for bathrooms it was so busy they didn't care if you paid or not.

I wish. When I was 15 I worked at the beach, one south of where the roller coaster fell in, my job was at 5:30 to walk the 6 mile beach with 6 other guys picking up trash. We would carry a bucket and wear boots. My legs back then we're iron. After the beach we would get picked up collect trash in the beach waste cans then walk the streets and pick up more trash. It was a fun jib.

I love living in the DC area...the Smithsonian museums and the Zoo all being free spoil the hell out of us, I am shocked at the prices of some places.

The museums in dc are free too? Thats cool. I think I would pay more though. Wife sees free but donations accepted, and takes that as meaning we have to pay for our family and two others lol. Wish i was more like her.

yes free so are the Art museums.. I still get a membership to the Zoo so parking is free and the Kids get to then go to special events.

Is Manchester PA out near the Grand Canyon of PA?

We went there once with the RV it was fun, and the kids made the 7 mile hike to the bottom and back all on their own.

No I'm south central, near the Maryland line
