Any Dallas guys able to hook me up with a growler of Mardi Gras Temptress and/or BBA Temptress bottles? I got you on JK or goodies from my cellar.

Velvet Merkin is starting to show up around Austin-- Spec's apparently got it yesterday. This is definitely a few weeks before it got here last year, because that was right around Thanksgiving.

Brad, BTAC and Pappy is all allocated by key points assuming you're on their list of people that shows interest. My problem is that I don't use the key card. Might have to for next year.

Specs and Costco aren't the only people who get BTAC and Pappy in Houston.

Had a glass of Brimstone Bomb at Quickie Pickie, pretty disappointing to be honest. Not that it was a bad beer, just didn't taste a whole lot of difference between that and regular bomb.

And speaking of Quickie Pickie, first time there and probably last time due to their ridiculous prices. It's almost hyde park market bad there.

Havent been but have steered clear of this place because i had heard the pricing was idiotic.

Flying into Hobby day before Thanksgiving mid afternoon. Long drive to Katy so thought we'd kill some time. What's worth hitting as you go west?

Here's for bars: http://www.goodbeerhouston.com/local-taps/katy-west-side/

For bottles: the Pin Oak HEB just got a new beer guy that's pretty solid.

Having super old RuinTen on tap at World of Beer really blew. They need to rotate and send back old beer, it doesn't do craft beer justice to hype it up when it's a faded she'll of its former self. Was at Watson's as well, no real comment there.

What's the best beer bar in Houston?

i don't really care for the saucer. been a ufo club member for 10 years with living near multiple locations and still have like <100 check ins. o_O
Food is decent. Service from the bartenders can be spotty depending on who's running it. Used to frequent downtown at lunch and still remember the bartender's name because she is so awesome.

Touch_My_BrettSacch can you (or anyone else) recommend decent bar and bottle shop within a short distance of Capital Factory. From what I understand my hotel is in the same building complex they are. I'm not going to be too mobile, but I'd be willing to cab it if the recommendation was good enough. In town this Friday and Saturday if there's anything special I should be on the lookout for. First ATX trip. Thanks for any guidance.

Best beer bars near there (from closest to farthest but all are walking distance) are Chicago House (not as good as the others but like a block away), Easy Tiger, the Gingerman, Bangers, and Craft Pride (also sells some stuff to go!).

There aren't a lot of other bottle shops I know of in downtown...your best bet might be Whole Foods downtown, their flagship store that would be worth a trip even if they didn't sell beer. Whichcraft is the only pure bottle shop in town but is definitely a cab ride. Avoid Quickie Pickie. East 1st Grocery and Whip In have good selections too, but again necessitate cab/uber/horse/etc.

The only thing I think that might be coming out late this week is Prairie Brimstone Bomb, but there have been no sightings yet. Obviously if you have time you should also venture to Jester King, Hops & Grain, and/or Austin Beerworks. Enjoy Austin!
