Hi Texans! I will be in Austin next week for F1 & will have Wednesday & Thursday to do beer things. I realize JK is closed on those days, I'm looking for other good recommendations. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers!

Well you got lucky, because you'll be here for Austin Beer Week, so there are a SHITLOAD of beer things going on around town. And that Thursday night is JK Funk & Sour fest, I believe, which still has a few tix remaining.

Check out the schedule HERE - if you have any questions, ask!

Finally found some bottles of Stone Xocoveza in Austin.

Dated 8/29. Stone was a legit 2 months late with this one. I don't get it.

Fun tidbit guys... ChukHell pointed out to me when I saw him the other day that we are now receiving >some< of our Lagunitas supply from Chicago.

Comparing Julian codes, the first line will say something like

300 4 x

That's October 27th (300th day of the year), 2014 (denoted by the 4) and when x = 1, the beer is made in Petaluma, CA. When x = 2, the beer is from Chicago, IL.

Also, on the packaging, the bottles from Chicago say "Lagunitas Brewing, Petaluma, CA & Chicago, IL", while the CA packaging drops the "& Chicago, IL".

If anyone is interested I have 2 Untapped Dallas VIP tickets for sale. Paid $138, selling for $120 as I will be out of state, hit me up.

Don't know him either. Could be a fake name. I feel like I've met a very large portion of the Houston beer crowd through BA/TB/homebrewing club.

Could be. But he's posted a bit in the SW forum on BA, and was included in one of the Houston tasting threads (not clear whether he actually attended or not).

A Bad Trader post went up about him on BA, and magically he appeared and claims to be going to make this right (6 months later). Says he was dealing with "personal issues" yet still had time to drink all the beer the other guy sent him and post pics on Untappd. I'd follow up and find out a little more about him, but when I tagged him on the bad trader thread, he blocked me.

Any of you Houston guys know Dylan Eammon (beerisgoodfood on BA)?

Looks like he ****** a guy out of a 12 bottle shipper on a FB trade group and is being called out on it. Just a heads up.

How do you even know his name, and are you sure that's the correct spelling? I'm not trying to dox his personal info or anything, just seeing what information can be dragged out with a simple, but precise Google search

The guy who posted about him on Facebook had already done several trades with him before, so he had his name and shipping info from that. I guess they were also friends on Facebook and Untappd too. If its a fake name, the guy is faking it across multiple platforms.

I got the guys name slightly wrong the first time - forgot the "s" on the end. Here's the original post from the Fb trade page:

"Anybody know Dylan Eammons out of Texas? We had done a couple of really good big blind trades every few months then the guy screwed me out of a 12 bottle shipper. First he replied saying he was shipping, now just ignoring me. First time this has happened to me, but really ****** because I sent him some quality beers. I posted most of the convo threads below. Thx!"

I'm thinking he might have spelled the guys name wrong. There are several Dylan Emmons in Houston, but nothing comes up with the other spelling.

Anyway, hopefully the guy comes through, but 6 months of stringing someone along is ********.

Kingwood. I won't post the address or personal information, but either he or his parents live in Kingwood. I'm not going to pursue it any further as I don't see the benefit.

Well ****. I googled "Officer Brad" hoping to come up with an animated cop or something to applaud your sleuthing work with, and everything that came up was about a cop who was killed in the line of duty. ****.

Cross posting this from the whiskey thread.

Called Specs Downtown.

Me: "Do y'all have any BTAC available?"

Rep: "No sir"

Me: "Ok. Is there a list that I need to sign up for in the future or something?"

Rep: "Not at this time. That is an allocated item that the owner of specs will be handing out."

Hand to God if I ever win the state lottery, I will start my own liquor store just to compete with these ********. I knew in my heart that these wouldn't even hit the shelves. The owners and managers have a proven buddy system where only close friends get the rarer bottles.

I wonder if this applies to whiskey as well:

What are the points about and how can they get used?
The Spec's Key points are really an in-house tool for us when it comes to the distribution of allocated wines. We receive several highly sought-after wines each year in very limited quantities. We needed a way to insure that our everyday, loyal customer got first chance to acquire these wines over the customer who would shop with us only when allocated wines were released. Now when a limited-quantity wine comes in, we run a report based on Key points. The customers with the highest points are called first.

I got the impression that it was going to close friends, and if by miracle there was anything left over, it would probably be for something like this. Only problem is even though I frequent Specs and spend a considerable amount of money (probably close to ~$2000-2500 a year), my spending can't touch what others spend there.
