The Oxford Companion to Beer

The Mrs. gave this to me for Christmas. Nearly 1,000 pages of detailed informational goodness about God's second best gift to mankind (second only to Jesus, naturally). Can't wait to start working through it.

Is it a history book about beer? or more like a brewmaster guide?

More like an encyclopedia. Ingredients, styles, history, notable brewers and breweries,geography of brewing, etc. etc. Very comprehensive and interesting for anyone who enjoys beer.

I've picked this up as well but haven't spent any time with it. From what I understand there are numerous flaws in the history sections, but the rest is quality material
