The Origin of the Lager Yeast

A good friend of mine is doing a post doc under a scientist who may have discovered the origins of the lager yeast.

"Saccharomyces eubayanus"?!

I thought people knew for years that lager yeast came from the lagering caves in Germany and Belgium. And just because they found a mutation they have to call it eubayanus (i.e. "TRUE" bayanus)?
