Not sure if it showed up at other places around town recently - Anderson's on Sawmill has a couple bottles of Mango Magnifico (as of 6:30p) if anyone missed out on trying that one. Not one of the better beers in that series, but interesting imo.

Are any of the many newly opened Dayton area breweries worth checking out at this point? I managed to visit Toxic last time I was in the area, plus Lock 27 for a Jackie O's tap takeover, but I get the sense that most of these places are just getting their legs under them. Only Yellow Springs seems to get consistently positive reviews.

Per Jackie O's on facebook:

Mark your calendars, our next bottle release is Friday February 28th and Saturday March 1st. Bottles will include... Dynamo Hum, Evelyn, Cellar Cuvee 8 (barleywine/sour brown blend), and Immixence (funky stainless saison blend). With our current website under construction, check here for updates and feel free to send questions to [email protected]. Cheers!

I haven't been out to any yet unfortunately, but a friend of mine really enjoyed Warped Wing when he was out there.

anyone seen any balvenie 14 yr caribbean cask around? have not looked super hard so far, so it'd be great if someone told me weiland's has like 62 bottles.

Anyone know much about Brothers Drake Bourbon Apple Pie Mead? I've had the regular Apple Pie, but would love to try the Bourbon one.

I was able to snag a couple of these for the holidays. The bartender mentioned it would be a yearly release so looking forward to that.

Also grabbed this...which I cracked last night and was extremely impressed. Also 150 bottles released at the same time.

I'm holding on to a few of these as well, looking forward to opening one soon! FWIW, this was a 300 (maybe even 350?) bottle release. Glad to hear its tasty!

Edit - confirmed 300 bottle count @$24 per 500ml

Hey Tom, thanks for the correction. Lazy post last night. Looking forward to more of these gems in the future. Love what these guys have been doing.

question for TomTwanks or itsthepleats or MordorMongo --with still mead (like the bb apple pie), how long do you do you have from opening to consumption? is it like wine, where unless you purge it you've only got a few days? or more like bourbon?

I'm definitely no mead expert but I'd say much more like wine.....a matter of days with variation depending on the mead of course. I've also don't typically keep an opened bottle unconsumed for more than one sitting...

Flavored or BA meads are indeed like wine, you have some time but not like forever. TRUE still plain meads last longer as less to "fade".

Anyone else going to the opening of the New Lizardville in Cleveland/Lakewood tonight? KBS on tap apparently.

Anyone hear from the OP of this thread lately? Just want to make sure he's still out there drinkin'!
good question. i have not. Envelopes are you out there?

OH hey ya'll. Just taking a break from the beer world in an effort to get my ass a little bit healthier. Not intentionally a New Years sort of thing, just sorta happened. Can't come on here too much 'cause it's too ******* tempting.

Especially this thread. I like to pretend I haven't missed anything but PBR mini-kegs.

Hop Juju should be landing next week, and Nugget Nectar hopefully this week!

Also, Imperial Doughnut Break dropped in Columbus finally.

I stocked up on Nugget Nectar and now I need some Hop Juju! Man, does this month rock!!! Nugget Nectar, Hop Juju and Chillwave all in the same month. Boooyah.

Not the best of crowds usually, but World of Beer in the brewery district is apparently going to have Brother's Drake Boubron Barrel Apple Pie tonight, along with Blueberry Chai and a lot of other great beers from around ohio...Willoughby peanut butter cup coffee Porter, oh lawd.

I saw that earlier - they have a pretty killer tap list tonight, but I unfortunately won't be able to make it.

Blueberry chai is my favorite mead they make IMHO. They need to seriously bottle that stuff

Never had it, and all the more reason to go down and try those out. I still haven't forgiven myself for missing the Bourbon Apple pie bottles when they were available.
I have some bottles left but they are up at my father's house in CLE. Next time I head up there Ill bring one down for ya. I regret doing so because I broke a bottle of Collabrative in transition :(

Really? That's incredibly generous of you, thanks! That sucks about the Collaboraotve, they still had that for sale not too long ago right?
