Anyone going to check out Oxbow's Brooklyn debut at Spuyten (Saturday) or Tørst (Sunday)? I'm thinking I'll probably try to go on Sunday.

Christmas party on Saturday night so doubt I'll be in any shape for Torst. Might try to stop by Spuyten though

Hearing that Oxbow is coming to Brooklyn is welcome news. They`ve been on in Philly and even Baltimore for some time now, so this was bound to become a reality sooner or later.

Ugh BA. Someone posted over there that the C-Town on Graham had Coffee and BW. Someone comes from the UES all the way to Williamsburg to grab some and then notes that eight other people were there cleaning em out at that point too.

Can we do closed membership over here? ;)

eh, if people want to travel that much more power to em I guess.

I mean I already got my four packs of Coffee/BW so that's not what gets at me, it's just that this is where we are in the beer scene now. Eight...EIGHT people together cleaning out a store of its supply instead of some random person that shops there that would've been surprised/excited had they seen it on the shelf.

oh, I misunderstood. All 8 people were together muling for one guy? that's a little overboard.

That's what the post made it seem like yeah. Not the guy who posted, but he saw eight people together buying it all up

That's my local grocery store :( sad feels.

I've complained about this before...posting every spot in the city to a public forum is not always such an advocatey thing to do. There's 10 guests online for every member and these things have resale value, so why not just tell your friends privately (thanks gregkoko !) and move along? Whatever. People gonna hunt. I did my hunting too, so I'm also the problem. (but really I blame beer trading for all of this nonsense)

Yeah I know I'm being a little hypocritical, but I only went to places that had posted online that they were getting it in...so yeah that's how I'm justifying this :)

Man everyone is sleeping on the BW this year. Fantastic beer. Love that it's just sitting around places (like apparently still at that C-Town where someone with a Connecticut location got the last four pack...I'll shut up about it now).

I want to leave the negativity over there. We should get a NY tasting going some point soon!

Haha, I was legitimately thanking you for pointing me in the right direction earlier this week.

Sincerely agreed. [grouphug?]

Now you just look confused. You know what I really can't wait for? Other Half's tasting room to open. It's going to be awesome to have a real tasting room open in Brooklyn. No way I'm hiking all the way up to Singlecut...too damn far

Agreed, I'll trek down for that. I haven't been back to SingleCut since I bought a growler and my bill was over $40. For a growler. Of amber.

I think the growler itself was like $22. Maybe they've fixed that since, but I havent been impressed by literally anything they've put out yet so I havent bothered looking.

The IPAs are alright (emphasis on alright), but aside from that 100% agreed.

c'mon fellas, let's not be naive here...we all hunt...when we can. i was fortunate to be able to hunt on this release and did reasonably well...but damn if this one wasn't tough (esp coffee). you can't blame new people to the scene...they need trade bait. it is the hoarders that are the problem. and by hoarders, i mean those people still sitting on their 08 BCBS's and other beer that is past its prime and getting worse. it is there to be consumed and shared...and saved a bit to be consumed and shared tomorrow and next year.

i agree wholeheartedly with josh about the trading scene for this non-sense (and fess up to being part of the problem). i didn't hoard until i got into trading...and eventually evolved to the point of realizing the wonderful blessing/curse that if an apocalypse happened, i'd be good and drunk for a solid 2 years and if i didn't get drinking soon i'd have a lot of old over the hill beer on my hands. as much as i try to "drink it down" it always pumps back up though...the only thing i've learned over time is how to be picky.

ps. enough with the love fest, pick a date, pop some cool bottles with each other...bro-mance...and then we can all get on with it...

Did anyone check Staten Island yet? I think I'm going to shoot over there during lunch and check the C towns.

don't know about staten island, but hit the bevy on the corner of southampton publick house after picking up some bottles of french country xmas ale (which are available right now by the way) and picked up 2 4-packs of barleywine!!! stopped at a few other stores out east on my way back but came up empty.
