Thanks again dudes! Another killer rec. Everyone is enjoying this spot. Just had the CC Madeira Barleywine. Moving on to a Konigsberg.

Haymaker? Ha I was just there on Thursday drinking the same beers. Enjoy!

Whoops, sorry! Meant to post this pic but was distracted:

Thank you to all who participated in the TB Takes NYC: Part 2 poll. We have a winning date, and it is Saturday, March 2!

We will likely start and end similarly (ZX Ventures and One Mile House, respectively), but also focus on the parts of Brooklyn we missed. That includes Threes (nathanmiller), Folksbier, Five Boroughs, and maybe even that hypey hazy place some of you love so dear. Grimm, despite its location outside this spectrum, is now open.

I feel like I'm forgetting some things and I probably am. So, if anyone has suggestions, or knows a few guys/gals at these spots, please feel free to send a text/email/PM.

I'll get the ball rolling as soon as this crazy season (and my new job, whaaaa?!) calm down.

Happy holidays, everyone, and looking forward to meeting/working/drinking with as many of you as possible!

Let’s talk soon about the brew day, should be good to go on my end, just need to discuss timing and how we pick what we’re making. I will say Macho Knots will be difficult to top!

I'll be bouncing around Brooklyn this afternoon/early evening if anybody else isn't back to "the real world" or "responsibility" yet and wants to grab a beer. Current plan is Other Half -> Strong Rope -> Threes.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I am working on getting some **** together for the crawl. Again, we have agreed to make this Saturday, March 2.

The times and locations are TBD. However, I did put a start time of 10:30 am, as we were at ZX around 10:45 last year (according to the itinerary I pulled from the archives).

Some of you received an email evite since I already had your contact info. For those who didn't, the link to RSVP is here:

I thought about making a FB invite but I know some of us try to avoid it, aren't on it, etc. so I feel this may be the easiest way to organize and correspond.

That said... I know we have discussed a few places (mainly, the other half -- heyyy! -- of Brooklyn we missed last year) but wanted to ask you a couple things:

-Does anyone (aside from jammery :)) have any input about Strong Rope or Circa?
-What do we think about Five Boroughs, as it is a bit farther south, but I am sure they would accommodate?
-Any additional thoughts?

Hope everyone is well and again, looking forward to everything!

Five Boroughs is a cool space and the staff is super nice. It's a bit far even if you're in the gowanus area.
There's that whole Industry City thing for lunch and a bunch of taco places.
Also a Sake brewery.
So maybe?

1. Circa sucks. Let's skip it and save more time for
2. Five Boroughs is worth the hike. Good beer and as iamjo points out, good people. Also I agree with stopping in Industry City - there's technically a brewery there (Lineup) but they seem to basically never be open to the public. But if someone were to reach out to them regarding a group of miscreants coming through... who knows! And finally,
3. Threes.

If you fuckers come to Five Boroughs, I might come for a beer. 2 miles from my house.

You guys start this around Threes Brewing right? Any suggestions for a quick lunch place in the area between Other Half and Threes? Looking for sandwiches or something light like that, nothing crazy.

Court Street Grocers by Other Half has killer sandwiches. I don't know if they have a sit down area inside though.

Hey all. My idiot friend who lives on Long Island is getting married next weekend. Yay. January wedding in New York! Anyway, my wife and I figured we'd extend the trip a little and spend a couple days in Manhattan the Sunday & Monday afterward. We're staying in East Village, specifically the Alphabet District.

We don't have any plans except for walking around, eating, & drinking. Looking for recommendations for good beer and/or food places in the area. Not sure where our wanderings will take us, but we could potentially make it as far as the Upper West Side. Not sure. Proletariat looks interesting. Maybe a stop at Haymaker if we make it that far north. Is Alphabet City Brewing any good? Possible restaurant stops so far are Prune & Momofuku. And probably typical NYC stuff like bagels and pizza. And of course a stop at the corner of 1st & 1st - The Nexus of the Universe.

I didn't feel like digging thru 250+ pages of this thread, so looking for some help.

Alphabet City is a fun area. I'm a fan.

Nearish there you have the best bar in Manhattan, One Mile House, as well as numerous other great bars such as Augur's Well (often a good taplist but can occasionally attract an icky crowd) and Proletariat (they serve everything in tekus!). And of course, near those two spots is Death and Co, the place that literally wrote the book on craft cocktails.

I kinda thought Alphabet City Brewing was out of business, so that gives you my thoughts there. Haymaker is great, but if you're in that area don't miss As Is, which is even greater.

My favorite spot in all of Alphabet City for food is Fiaschetteria Pistoia, but due to an electrical fire they're currently shuttered. They have announced they "hope to be open by the end of the month" but maybe you'll get lucky if you walk by. Who knows.

Finally, go to Brooklyn instead of the Upper West Side. There's nothing on UWS. There's a LOT in BK.

Thanks for the info. We'll actually be in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon until Friday early afternoon when we head out to the 'burbs. Got an AirBnb right by Other Half. Will probably also try to hit Threes if time allows. It'll be four couples, so if you have recommendations for good places for largish groups in BK, that might be helpful too.
