The craft beer world needs more people like this. I try to do my part but alas I am only one man.

I would do this, but I honestly hate packing stuff and am always scared when I send out boxes that somehow it will be noticed and then destroyed. I do up my order for local friends and family and occasionally split my order and mark one as pickup in LA for one of my sisters to collect for herself. But then I get lazy and forget to tell them and end up with only a small order for myself. Hehehe. I will likely not be invited back to Theory next year. =P

If you are doing C+S, wouldn't be worried about the package. If something happened, I don't think the receiver is going to expect for you to replace it , seeing as you aren't profiting it - but merely hooking them up. (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). As far packing up, yes that's time consuming.

I tend to be overly concerned....even when it is just C+S. The way I see it, they still paid for the beer and if it was found and destroyed then I personally take the blame because it was my packing job. Otherwise, I do agree with you. I need to invent some sort of weird auto-packer bot. Time to put these engineering degrees to actual use.

I take C+S is similar as acting as a trustee. If one of those boxes were lost, not my problem. I've probably done 30 C+S and 150 12 shippers as a trustee the last few years. Never had a lost box, though someday 1 will.

If I'm responsible, then I should end this madness! Today.

You're going to the bruery anniversary? I'll have to find you so I can chat up with my new potential MT hookup! (you won't have to ship) lol.

And for a few members that I know, they still have to wait until the usual saturday raised limits time to fulfill their entire order.

Well, to make things even more expensive...Steven put up the ToLC bottles again this morning, at least what was left. RIP another $64 since I managed to F5 enough that the site finally said "**** it, let him in".

What TOLC bottles?
Was there an email?
Not really enjoying the fact that you basically have to have a facebook to get all the info for theory.

The ToLC bottle for this month, the BBA MP w/ BA maple syrup & coffee. No email. I didn't even realize it until I got a personal tag on the post...but yes, FB seems to almost be required nowadays. I held off for a long time but I caved way back in 2015 (seems like so long ago) so that I could get my beer news.

Theory of Facebook Committee.

Pretty lame to cut out access to other people who paid just as much to be members, how hard is it to send an email?

Id just settle for a heads up on the sales... missed one already and already had a bottle I wanted sold out on this one once I realized it was live.

I mean, the sales are pretty cyclical. Sale to Theory after the tasting (occasionally tuesday night or else wednesday morning depending on how much fun Steven had). Regular League at 10am on Thursday morning. Double up saturday at 10am, public sunday at 10am.

Been this way for the past 4 months. Now an email to Theory members for a stock of 30 bottles seems a bit overkill. Plus Steven mentioned that he decided basically last minute to post the extras. It is unlikely he will do that again based on some of the complaints in the thread.

Yeah jeez how entitled of me to think that for my $800+ membership fee i could get a courtesy email about when my access to my allocation is going live.

Re: extra theory bottles - The only reason most people ponied up the double membership fees to the most expensive club in beer club history was for access to those bottles so yeah... people are going to have opinions on how they are dolled out. Pretty lame to only give the facebook punishers a shot.

Whatever, i'd just settle for a heads up about allocations.

I’m totaling willing to buy an extra TOLC bottle “allocation” if none of you want it.... (please please please please!).

100% agree with you. If I had ponied up that kind of money, and didn’t get notified of a sale when other members did (preferential treatment?) I would be SUPER pissed.

You’re complaining because you don’t use Facebook.

Others are complaining bc they do use Facebook, but still got shut out.

They might as well not even bother allowing us to purchase any remaining bottles because someone is always going to complain.

Everyone gets their 2 and extras are only allocated if everyone is allowed to purchase the same amount.

I guess that would have meant that we all would have only been eligible to only purchase 1 extra Monster Tones because there was not enough to ensure that everyone would receive 2...oh wait, I’m sure no one complained about being able to snag 2.

Are you not receiving the emails when sales begin (and other normal correspondence to the ToLC email list)? Obviously, this extra allocation was just an FB thing so no email went out, and I understand the frustration on that point, but if you're not getting the normal emails, have you hit up the League email to have them resolve it? Not trying to be snarky at all, but that's something they'd likely be able to get fixed pretty quickly.

Another hot take from SanDiegoJoe2011 to the surprise of literally no one.

Are you not receiving the emails when sales begin.

I am, but they are going to my spam filter despite my best efforts to train gmail otherwise. That’s my problem. What I’m wishing for in my above post is some type of heads up a few days out w/ scheduling like “hey club members theory allocations will go live at 10am on x date, league sales go live at 10am on y date and public sales at 10am on z date, similar to what bruery rolls out for people. I fully expected this sale to go live the morning after the tasting and when I checked my spam filter it had gone live the night before and one bottle I wanted was already sold out.

Selling extras to Facebook members at the exclusion of others equally invested is poor form in my opinion but ok, I choose to not participate in Facebook and accept the consequences. It’s not gonna effect MTs bottom line or create any daylight in the line of people waiting to take my place so I get there is no motivation to adjust the methods there.

Despite the weather report above from the resident of sycophant island, i have a proven track record of generosity and helpfulness in this forum and I barely even register on the scale of entitled internet ******* just looking for an axe to grind....and, as you yourself have pointed out to me in our drinking sessions, I have actually cultivated an online personality that’s generally miles more patient and humorous than my actual personality IRL. I appreciate the quality of beer MT puts out and also feel that historically their customer service has been 9.9 stars out of 10. That number has taken a bit of a dive this year which sadly coincides with me doubling my investment in MT and creating a bigger delta of frustration. the reality here is if a company is going to come in at the absolute top of the market, there will be people who reasonably expect customer service that is at least on par with other vendors. I’m actually baffled, though I really shouldn’t be, that asking for better communication such that I can participate effectively in my $800 beer club is waved off as “bitching”.

Another hot take: I actually feel for you / agree with you on the Facebook only release being “poor form.”

My point was only that people were going to complain regardless of the release format as people were going to get shut out. In this case, some have a valid complaint and some are the usual “why didn’t I get the very limited release.”

Any notifications should not be Facebook only. They should be emailed out to all members at the same time. I know it’s easy to assume everyone uses Facebook, but that is definitely not the case. If it wasn’t explicitly said when you signed up that you needed to keep an eye on Facebook for stuff like that, it’s not appropriate to announce sales via FB and not email.

Just to clarify, I am not a TOLC member, and certainly would not become one knowing the club is run in this matter.

I fully expected this sale to go live the morning after the tasting and when I checked my spam filter it had gone live the night before and one bottle I wanted was already sold out.

Wait a tick....which bottle sold out? As far as I am aware, all offerings were available the following morning. Minus the 1.5L of Wizard & Graf Ch2 w/ cherries...but the 750s were still there.

Edit: And all, minus the 1.5L, were available for regular league as well as the double up.

Also, I am basing my judgement off of your bitching in the SARA thread and here, thus far. You were kind when we met down at lomaland, but that was some point last year...and we all know internet personas tend to differ (sometimes a lot) from actual personalities due to the anonymity of a keyboard/mouse.

Yes, 1.5l sold out. Since I’m best man in a cider and beer lovers wedding this summer I thought they would make nice his and hers gifts to serve to the wedding party. Oh well.

Since you seem to have missed the joke, the SARA thread posts are inside jokes w/ my friends at SARA and those that are in SC. I have zero hurt feelings about how SARA is dealing with their excess of bottles or how any member decides to spend their time this Monday afternoon. I do appreciate Adair giving all members an even shot at them, of course. And communicating the availability of a member benefit (be it promised in advance or extended ad hoc) through multiple channels instead of throwing a “Westly for facebookers” party.

It doesn’t matter, I don’t have to give you my resume I’ll keep giving away a fuckton of beer and doing proxy services for a dozen+ ppl gratis while using this place for well meaning yucks or talking about records or gardening or whatever, but you saying I bitch more than I’m helpful is some straight up Maslow’s hammer nonsense. You love MT, that’s fine, but not every criticism is bad faith from an entitlement junky.

Yeah I was gracious for the assist on alesmith and repaid the kindness. Now I’m not so grateful for the comments about my character or the crystal ball maneuver about my next hypothetical complaint. If there’s a schism in how I roll it’s that I’m way more patient on here than IRL. Trust me on that.

When I missed the monster tones sale COMPLETELY because of no heads up email and a 24 hr purchase window that went down before I found the MT email in spam... I wouldn’t have gotten ANY bottles at all if it wasn’t for you chiming in about the second chance sale... wait for it... that was only advertised via Facebook! So, sincere thanks for that. No kidding.
