BA MP with coffee had a big'ol slimy thing in the bottom of the bottle. Kinda gross - domed the entire bottle anyway though
I tested mine as well a couple of nights ago and had something similar (though smaller) in either a BAMP or BAMP w/ coconut. I opened three bottles cumulatively and unfortunately they were all infected to varying degrees. I've got more bottles to test as well. Hopefully at least one or two will be drinkable.

Fortunately MT has great customer service, so I'm saving the drain poured bottles for exchange/GC on my next trip down.

^this

MT has hinted that their new bottling line will prevent the issues that they had with the latest MPs.

How does the bottling process lead to some bottles being infected? I would have figured that the infection process would have been initiated well before the bottling step, no?

How does the new bottling line prevent that?

Just curious.

I opened a BA Rum w/ coconut the other day and there was a weird tartness to it at first. It seemed to go away over time as it warmed up and the carbonation died down though so I dunno. Maybe it was just the carbonation that was adding tartness? Either way I was somewhat underwhelmed by it which has been my feeling about most of their releases this year.

Haven't gotten to the rum yet. Starting with the bourbon barrels as others have mentioned that's where there are some infection issues. Will slowly move through the rest of this year's releases after that. Sucks to not be able to age some bottle, but hopefully the rest will be fine and I'll just enjoy some good beers earlier than I had anticipated!

Which ones did you find underwhelming?

I thought NOLA, Rum Barrel MP w/Cocoa and Vanilla, and Rum Barrel MP Mexican Chocolate were some of their best offerings this year. A few of my friends shared that sentiment.

Just curious.

Virtually all of the sours. Mage Hand. Roots of Coincidence. Accumulated Knowledge. Didn't quite get the Booming Roller love earlier. All of the coconut MPs underwhelmed me compared to last year. Nicaraguan Rum w/ Cherries & Vanilla. Not a huge brandy fan so Spanish Brandy MP didn't do much for me. The Neverwhere bottle wasn't as good as a previous version I'd had.

I did enjoy NOLA a lot though and was quite surprised by that one; that was by far my favorite of the rye barrel treatments. Haven't tried Rum Mexican Hot Chocolate yet.

I don't remember everything (I'm really bad at checking in on untappd) but I also don't really remember being blown away too much. None of them were bad by any means but not too many that I'd consider great or excellent; if I was to put a number to it I'd say almost everything would have been in the 3.75-4.25 range for me. And at the price tag you have to pay for them it hasn't quite felt as justifiable.

Blam! Blam! on deck. I remember trying at a bottle pick up a few months back and I really enjoyed it. Will probably have to up my purchase this time around!!

Wats dis?

MONSTERS' PARK AGED IN X.M. SCHMELLER BARRELS (22oz)
This is Monsters' Park, our hulking, cantankerous imperial stout, aged in fragrant, oaky bourbon barrels which formerly contained a highly sought-after wheated bourbon. The barrel character is immediately evident on the nose and only grows more intense in the flavor. Notes of honey and intense coconut meld beautifully with the huge roast character of the beer and wrap up with an unbelievably smooth, chocolaty finish.
ABV: 14.7%

Weller single barrel im assuming. (want so bad....)

edit: and the one below is the 4 roses, want slightly less but still so bad...

DEVIL'S TEETH AGED IN QUADRUPLE FLOWERS BARRELS (22oz)
Devils Teeth is a hybrid of an Old Ale and an Imperial Stout, two English beer styles designed to withstand long voyages and dark winters. It brings rich maltiness & robust roastiness in a thick, tongue-coating, aggressively flavorful package. We let this batch luxuriate for over a year in fragrant, oaky barrels which had recently housed a legendary single-barrel bourbon. The resulting beer is enormously tasty, with an earthiness complemented by assertive notes of rich chocolate.

Wildly speculating: there is probably licensing involved in putting a distillery name on your beer bottle that isnt worth it for single barrel, <300 bottle runs?

Correct, it's a licensing/trademark issue. Jacob said at a preview tasting that they came up with the names to make it obvious what barrels were used without running into any legal issues.

That's one of the bottles that sealed the deal for me wanting to join. Going to get as many as I can but that will probably not be many:oops:

Does anyone know what the pickup window will be for this next release? Really hoping it overlaps with 11/12...

#nope

With the tasting on the 8th, sale to be on the 10th, public sale to likely be on the 14th, pickups to likely start on the 17th or so. This is assuming they follow the same model for the past releases.
