Check out the Forbidden zone, his first soundtrack - it is a musical. There are clips on the youtubes. It's a cult film. Black and white, low production values. Directed by his brother Richard. Much of the musical numbers are from old 40's and 50's recordings added in (including the 3 Stooges - modified) but there is lots of incidental background music that is classic Elfman, and also a couple songs with the mystic knights.

There is full frontal nudity, Not really appropriate for young teens and younger

I listened to some of his music on you tube the other night and really enjoyed it. I am thinking I might buy some just because it would be nice in the trailer up camping

A fan of some of the Oingo Boing stuff, but they were hit or miss for me. He's simply brilliant as a score composer, though.
