Another 2007 HM - Dr Dog - We All Belong

Their breakthrough probably? I worked with a dude who was pushing their Easy Beat record on me hard and I was just not convinced. But then this one hit and I was addicted. Went on to put out a few more good records before capsizing. This one still has a really raw studio who gives a **** vibe. The first in a three record trajectory that had my full attention, with the pinnacle being Shame, Shame.

Beer is Goblin Folk by brewery back home Dancing Gnome. Really solid stuff. Not spectacular, but better than the options I had when I lived there.

It’s super ******* neck and neck now between this thing and the Young Fathers for top album of the year. Might be a legit tie. Doug coming in hard late.

Doug Paisley - Starter Home
Beer is Insurrection - Social Cues - another beer from pgh. Thoroughly enjoying.

I forgot about Young Fathers. That is a hell of a record.

Nice to have some company. Anyway, the intro track on this album is hilarious, public access type thing talking about and introducing The Melvins as part of some Christmas fundraiser show. They have no idea what this band is about. Been a while since I've listened to this, but early Melvins were a lot more punk leaning and less sludgey than they are these days and it absolutely kicked ass.

The night that Guaraldis Charlie Brown Christmas blew up in here, I showed my wife all the posts in envy. Came home tonight to a copy of my very own and a six pack of SN Celebration. This is what marriage is all about.

Now I’m a cool kid too right?

Third least good King Gizz album of 2017....most likely to be enjoyed by Pierre Pressure

Edit: Murder of the Universe

Just gave it a listen, musically you're right I do enjoy it, but the vocals aren't working for me. Listened to a couple of their albums now and I'm thinking they might just be one of those bands that just kind of exists on the edge of what I like. Also, I feel I might appreciate them more if I were on drugs. Works for me though, I'll save a ton of money if I don't feel compelled to buy all their records.

Well that spoken word stuff is definitely not their norm and was pretty widely criticized as being a bit overboard. I doubt that’s what you’re referring to though. Still, I wouldn’t let this be the only album that informs your decision on whether or not you like the band. Like I said, everything released in 2017 is a concept for the most part and this was no exception. They have other stuff that sounds absolutely nothing like this.
