Temp controller needed in mini fridge Kegerator

I converted a Danby mini fridge into a kegerator. I was curious if it is necessary to put a control temp unit on it since it is already a refrigerator.

If so;
What kind of set up is best?
Dangling or submerged?

Sure you can if you want, or you can just treat it like any fridge. If you want it colder turn it down and vice versa.
