This is my version of Rocky Raccoon from Charlie P's book. I call it Honey Bunch Ale

3.5 DME
2.5 Honey
.5 crystal L10
Cascade hops
US 05 yeast

For BJCP completion is this a braggot or a speciality beer?

I would err on the side of Braggot, but remember that you MUST specify carb level, strength and sweetness if you enter it as that.

For it to do well in competition as a braggot, it needs to have both the characteristics of mead and beer. Be sure to note the base beer style and honey variety so the judges know what to expect.

It depends on if it has honey character or not. If it has a noticeable honey character, than Braggot, otherwise probably specialty beer. It really depends on if you boiled the honey or not.
