Pretend it is anyway, and go out of your way to get it on your side. ASAP, you want to do a little baking or brewing. If baking, take a little of the risen dough (just a pinch) and leave it somewhere out-of-the-way; if brewing, put a little cup of the finished wort (with pitched yeast) somewhere.

I guess I don't follow you, why would I leave this stuff out?

If you hear "GET OUT". do it! White people stay around to long.....

That was made up. The guys who wrote that movie admitted they made that stuff up.

Eh, it's an old Sephardic (Spanish/Mediterranean) Jewish tradition. Every time they bake, they leave a little pinch somewhere. I just assumed it would translate over to beer. :)

Wouldn't the ghost get a little pissed that you get 99.9% of the beer and it gets one lousy cup??? You don't want to antagonize it now do you?

I was pretty sure our house was haunted, then we had a house fire... Now I'm sure it WAS haunted, burn it down and get the insurance money...

So who was at my door today when I heard someone knocking????? No one, of course!

I think you should antagonize it. Tell it it's a p***y, it doesn't scare you, and you're going to make sure it leaves the house no matter what. Then go to sleep and see what happens.:D

Gotta admit, I'm a little envious. :D I would try the sit down tho, just to try to make things clear.

Keep us updated.

I feel like an idiot talking to an empty room but I tried it a little today. Just letting him/her/it know that I knew he/she/it was there. Later on I heard louder noises than usual like the knocking on the door. I also heard something that sounding like a quick churp, like if you took 2 pieces of metal and scraped then together quickly to make that high-pitch sound. Floyd was next to me at the time and he looked up at the same time I did so it wasn't just me hearing things. The first thing I thought of was our guest bedroom. The bed frame is set up but we don't have a mattress for it yet so it's just the metal frame and the metal headboard. I looked around and couldn't find anything else that would have made the noise.

I looked for the cat and she was downstairs, SWMBO was still at work.

I researched the public records on the internet and it looks like the people we bought the house from bought it in 1997 and owned it until 8/06 when they transferred ownership to their business, then we bought it in 11/06.

Not to hijack this thread Todd, because it is blowing me away....but the previous owner of our house died at home. He supposedly had a brain anuerysm in the driveway while he was working on his car. I'm waiting for him to "visit".

There, you got a free bump. Tell us more! :D

Maybe your ghost is more of a wine guy.

I don't suppose you're in possession of a camera or webcam or camcorder, are you? Could be worth the trouble to set it up to record continuously.

You could try getting the house blessed or talking to a medium (although I doubt there's a "medium" section in the yellow pages).

I'm scared as **** of ghosts.

Man, talk about some rather strange occurrences.

My dad has some pretty strange stories from his youth amongst other things. Makes me a believer from what he was talking about.

For me, personally, ghosts are like religion. I'm a believer, but I'm in denial about it. :mug:

Lots of people are in denial about it until it happens to them (with ghosts, anyway). As for me, I believe in it all now, and could go the rest of my days without experiencing it and be very, very happy.

Also, do the whole "salt-bread-wine" house blessing. It's just a good thing to do with any new place.

unless it's a mormon ghost... nothing pisses em off like wine and salt... except maybe coffee

Try the test where you record a quiet area and then listen to it for voices.

That or pester the ghost to play a game of Monopoly with you. That usually makes my guests leave, should work with ghosts.

White noise, huh? That movie creeped me out. It wasn't scary, just eerie.

Maybe he/she can play Mad Gab with SWMBO. I hate that game.

I watched the Haunting show on Discovery last night. I didn't catch it all, but MAN oh MAN was that freaky. Some militia soldier was p-o'd at the world and was taking it out on the family of 5. The 16 year old daughter actually got married to her boyfriend just so she could leave the house. I love this stuff.

The first night in our new (old) house we had just gone to bed when we heard weird noises. The next thing we new we heard scratching in the wall right behind the bed, which is an inside wall. First I thought we were haunted, then I thought 'Oh ****, we have a cat or something in our wall'.
I finally figured out it was soemthing in our heating vent, looked around with a flashlight until I saw it...there was a bat flying around in our heating vent.

Musta been a Dodge owner.

Update:

Today I was laying on the couch trying not to vomit, the cat was on the couch too. SWMBO was at work and Floyd was still at the kennel. I hear a loud thump on the ceiling like something hit the floor upstairs. Nothing had fallen on the floor when I checked.
It is windy here today but it was definitely not a wind noise.

Have you tried the Quigi board? Get one of those out and find out what the hell the ghost wants.

things picked up a bit yesterday with 2 occurences. The first happened early, just as I got out of bed at about 5:10am. Here is my routine, I get up and go out into the hall, the laundry room is the first room on the right and that is where I feed the cat to shut her filthy-yapper up. I don't turn any lights on, there is enough light coming in from the windows from our neighbor's front porch spotlight across the street. Now, some more info. Like i said, the laundry room is the first room on the right and then the guest room is after that. On the left, are the stairs kitty-corner (sp?) to the laundry room and then the man room is just past the stairs. The 2nd upstairs bathroom is straight ahead if you're leaving the master bedroom. So, like every other day, I walk out into the hallway to feed that dirty cat but instead of seeing darkness, I see what looks to me like a pair of legs walking into the man room. I didn't see anything else, just legs and it was quick, like someone were trying to avoid me. I didn't hear anything like footsteps or someone moving but I looked into the man room and of course there's nothing there. I believe in an earlier post I had mentioned seeing legs outside my apartment back door on our patio as if someone were walking by but no one is ever there.
2nd story was yesterday evening, probably around 7:00pm. At this point, the wind was going nuts outside so I was hearing a lot of "wind noise" from the attic and vinyl siding. I was in the man room, Floyd was downstairs, not sure where that damn cat was at. Anyway, I heard some thumping around downstairs and as usual whenever someone comes in, Floyd gets up from his bed and I heard his collar and tags jingling. I go downtstairs to greet SWMBO but no one is there. Floyd is staring at the entryway and then gives me one of those puzzled looks that only dogs can do. Like I said, it was really windy but the noises I heard weren't wind noise, they were noises consistent with someone walking in and clunking around down there.

To be continued.... I think!
