Brewing first cream ale. Partial mash. Should I steep at 155 for 45 mins. water is heating now. Quick response appreciated.

sounds about right... maybe go for 60 minutes if you can maintain the temp, and give it the old tea-bag treatment every 15 minutes or so.

also... if you are using rice, or rice solids, you may want to toss them in the PM too

60 min mash should not be a problem. My electric stove has great lower settings. No rice called for. 1lbs maize .5 lbs crystal 10
6lbs pilsner lme
1oz mt hood. 60 min

i have to tell you, i never leave the stove on (mine is electric, too) for the mash.

i get the water up to between 165 and 170, turn it off, put the grain in, and cover it.

i use a little less water for mash than called for, and then keep another pot of water hot on the other burner in case the mash kettle needs a little help.

also, consider throwing your crystal in the mash, too
