STC-1000 seems to have died?

So I just got my stuff delivered after 2 months in a shipping container (military move) and when I went to turn on my homemade temperature controller the weirdest thing happens.

I press and hold S, then it shows S1, then I click and release S. It shows 2c, and I click the "up" arrow (I had it previously set to 2c for cold crashing). Instead of changing the set point, it just cycles through the S1, S2, etc.

It's not a huge deal considering that a replacement is 10 dollars delivered, but I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this problem.

Don't think you have the sequence right. You have to hold the S key while incrementing the value

I agree it wouldnt die this way.. the relay would fail but software menus not behaving correctly is unlikely.
