Hi all.

I currently have a starter going but I ran into a bit of an issue. While it was sitting on the stir plate, it overflowed.

Is this a concern as I lost a fair amount of the fluid? It started with two liters and currently has approximately 1750 ml. Considering this is my second step up, (I am saving some yeast to be frozen for long term storage.) I believe that there will still be plenty of yeast cells left so I don't believe it will be an issue. I just wanted to make sure.

Also, just so I understand this better, is this pretty much a small scale version of a blow off on a primary fermenter? Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Casey

I had a similar situation recently and mine looked much worse; lots of yeast crusted on the outside of the flask since ales are top fermenting. Pretty certain that it resulted in an under pitch, but has been bubbling along fine for the past week. Pitched it in the late evening and had action the next morning. So, I wouldn't worry.
