Hi. Probably nothing to worry about, but everyone says this should be hard, it wasn't . . . .

Took a 12oz bottle of Bell's Two-hearted ale. Saved/recapped 1/4" of the bottom of the bottle. Made a 1.050 wort w/ DME, cooled to ~75-80 F. Poured into the 2HA bottle, swished, poured into a 22oz bottle w/ more wort. Shook vigorously. Put in an airlock, let sit on the kitchen counter. Took 3 days, but finally activity. Seems to have finished a couple of days ago, a fair amount of material on the bottom of the bottle. Put into the fridge.

I plan to repitch into a growler with more wort tomorrow. Plan to brew Thursday.

Anyone forsee issues?

Dave

You're probably still going to be underpitching, but will likely be OK. I did basically the same step-up schedule as you, but with a whole six-pack of Two Hearted. The batch was a little slow to get going, but ended up fine.

Someone else posted here that they talked to one of the Bell's brewers, who suggested they harvest the (same) yeast from the Amber rather than the Two Hearted...apparently the dry-hopping of Two Hearted does something to limit the amount of residual yeast in the bottle. I've harvested a six-pack of Amber, and there is definitely a LOT more yeast...
