Star San overdiluted!

Hello everyone,

For some reason, I calculated that 1oz equals 3ml, instead of 30ml. So I ended up diluting 10 times more than I should have Star San to clean my equipment when I brewed my batch today. Will my batch be ruined?

I nevertheless cleaned my equipment with chlorine, then rinsed it, then applied the overdiluted Star San solution, and let it dry.

You may be okay with the thorough cleaning of your equipment. The wrong dilution of the Starsan may increase the risk of infection, but good cleaning is the major risk reduction. Letting the Starsan solution dry negates the effectiveness of even the correct dilution. Starsan is a wet, no rinse sanitizer. It is most effective as a sanitizer while the surfaces are still wet.
