So here's what I ended up brewing:

Est. OG: 1.075
IBUs: 22.4
Color: 24.8 SRM

9lbs Munich
4.25lbs Vienna
.5lbs Carafa II

Single Infusion @ 156*

1.5oz Tettnang - FW
.5oz Tettnang - 15 min.

WLP833 German Bock Lager

OG - 1.076 (Measured)

I'll let ya'll know how it turns out in a couple months.

How did this turn out?

I don't know how close that is going to come. It doesn't have a single german grain in it. I would think that Optimator would have a large amount of Munich malt in it.

I haven't tried it, but here is Jamil's recipe...

Mr. Maltinator
OG: 1.086
FG: 1.020
IBU: 24
Color: 18 SRM
ABV: 8.7%
Mash @ 155
Bassed on pre-boil volume of 7 gallons, and an efficiency of 70%.

14lbs Munich Malt
4lbs Pilsner Malt
2lbs CaraMunich

1.5oz Hallertau 4.0% AA 60min
0.5oz Hallertau 4.0% AA 30min

WLP833/WYeast 2206

Brewed this up last night. I did a decoction mashout to get some extra melanoidens... Chilled to 46 and pitched a 6L starter of 2206. Really excited to try this one. My first lager, so I can't help but stare at my carboy devoid of any activity and worry like an ale brewer...

This is funny, I just sat down with my computer and a Spaten Optimator and the 3rd thread in the cue was this one! I love this beer!

Cheers
Jay
