I’ve been tweaking a house ale recipe for a few months now and this is it. This is the recipe that will be a permanent fixture at my house. I’ve brewed it twice, served the first 10 gallons to friends, families and “curious on-lookers”, and just finished the second 10 gallon batch with identical results.

Light and crisp. The IBU’s are on the low side, but there is a nice sweet/spicy balance to the beer. The great fresh taste of a craft ale with an extremely clean finish. This reminds me of what a local craft brewery might come out of the gates with to win over a new market. Very drinkable with wide appeal. I’ve yet to have anyone, even BMC drinkers not say it’s one of the best beers they’ve tasted….period. The secret lies in the name. I moved through Northern Brewer, Nugget and Pearle hops, all in combination with Cascade. Even went with a strict Cascade hop bill, but was just a bit on the tart side for this lighter grain bill.

Once I matched up Centennial as the bittering hop and Cascade as a flavor/aroma hop…that’s when the magic happened.

This is also a simple, hard to screw up recipe. At just around 4%, this is a quaffer. Due to the lighter grain bill…this is easily a beer that can go from grain to glass in 2 weeks (if you keg).

This recipe sounds perfect for a nice easy going brew. Not brewing this weekend but my supplies should be here tomorrow so plan to brew Tuesday after work.

I just brewed Denny's Rye IPA after not getting to brew last weekend. Ended up with a bit less in the fermenter than I hoped for but I guess I did not realize just how much evaporation there would be. I still came away spot on for the OG. Next time I brew I hope I will have my valve installed and the bazooka screen so I can try whole leaf hops.

Just made a london bitter today,1.035 OG-lightest beer todate, hopefully i get at least 3%abv out of this.bottled up an oak porter FG of 1.023  highest finiished gravity todate. Not what i intended.

Brewed up a Wheat today, with a late Coriander addition plus some local honey, I also have some Orange Zest getting infused with some MT made Vodka that i'll add when its ready to be kegged. With a little luck she will be gurgling tomorrow morning and I'll be sniffing an airlock!

I got on a roll with several DOH!! moments that left me pitching 15g of re-hydrated cooper's ale yeast (5/30/13,really fresh) on 16C (55.4F) wort at 3:10pm.
It was 8:54 before the yeast I'd swirled up at 15C got to the low end of 16C (60.8F) & pegged the center piece against the cap on the airlock. At least it's finally making some co2...

Brewing a second batch of my Blackstrap Molasses Porter! the first batch was ready for Xmas and didn't last until New Years :(

Going for a third try at the pride of raubsville on Wednesday.first and second came out wrong, sooooo a third try is in order

Sour ale brewed sunday. Roselare yeast slow starting, but this morning at full speed!

Can't decide whether to brew a Belgian tripel, the Rebel Brewer What Shortage IPA or the Three Crop Cream Ale that I'll dye green and serve at a friends couples baby shower. :drunk:

Doing an IIPA this weekend, got starter going last night. Using a bunch of left over supplies from last year since I have a lot of new equipment to try out on this brew, might as well make the whole thing experimental. Getting it dialed in for some serious brewing next month. Refilling the pipeline baby!

Did a double chocolate stout and belgian strong yesterday. Posted on the blog about it.. Weekdays are the only time I have to brew. Kids are at school and wife is working.

Thinking of brewing a Cream Ale of some sort this weekend, so it'll be ready for springtime. Any decent extract/partial mash recipes anyone could suggest?

Today is my birthday so I've taken the day off to brew (boo-yeah!).

Brewing a New Belgium Snow Day clone (mini-mash).

Kids are at school, wife is at work, blues are on the stereo, wort is at a boil and life is grand.

Sounds like the start of a great day. Have a great birthday! :fro:

Still fine tuning my 90 minute NAPA recipe....I think my palette is changing over the months and I find I'm never satisfied...tonight should be the final go...

1728 is bubbling away in its starter and I've got an Irish Draught extract kit from NB ready to go when I get home, and a case of Sam Adams Winter Mix to drink, along with a growler of Silver Creek Porter for brewing an Irish Red kit with my brother tomorrow. Time to start thinking about St. Patty's Day brews...
