Making an Irish Stout this morning. Had to send some hot water into the Brewzilla to get the frozen chunks out of lines which took a few minutes.
Mash is all done and hit 1.038 as preboil OG (spot on) looking for 1.041 post boil. PH is lovely at 5.19 as expected.

Almost at a boil. What a great day to make a batch of stout!

Left a couple of competition beers way too late (will not admit exactly how late but most everybody in the PNW knows what comp is coming up in the next two weeks so yeah that one), so brewing up the blonde tonight, and the NEIPA tomorrow. I am lazy as all get out, procrastinate on cleaning if I can, just generally am bad at that. But had a thought; the blonde can no-chill tonight, go in the fermzilla tomorrow, and I can immediately turn around and get the water for the NEIPA going without more than rinsing the BK (I do BIAB). Will use less water since I don't have to run the chiller tonight, and once boil is done I can just dump the spent grain, clean the bag, and relax. Lazy? Yes. Smurrt? Kinda.

Brewed my 3rd one this week, a coffee porter, so Ive got all 3 fermenters " cooking:" so I can spend the next 3 weeks ice fishing

Brewed a Blonde ale this weekend.

42% Maris Otter, 42% Two Row, 10% Vienna, 6% Victory
Bittered with Tettnang, Cascade and Simcoe late boil. Citra to be added at dry hop.

Used a pack of Lallemand Kolsch yeast that expired at the end of December. Hopefully it takes off, at about 18 hrs. post pitch, no signs of fermentation yet.

I brewed a Blonde as well, Thursday.

about 80% Rahr Pale Ale (3.1L), little bit of Barke Vienna, flaked wheat, and flaked oats.
Only used Anchovy hops to get a feel for them. Bittering, late additions, whirlpool. Will be dry hopping right before cold crashing.

Used Nottingham.
1.057 on accident, was supposed to be lower. Not sure if I messed up the volume, I didn't check it (I was rushing).
Currently already 1.012 and been fermenting at low 60s.
About to dry hop it and start cold crashing.

Missed my weekend brew, so it's gonna have to be a Tuesday mash session. Today - weigh the grains and get them ready for tomorrow. I like to mill as my kettle heats up - ahhhh, fresh.

Some variety of an English Ale. About 4.9% ABV, MO, Simpsons golden promise, brown ale, a little roasted variety - chocolate, biscuit, aromatic, subtle and tasty.
hops - Fuggles and EKG. Yeast US-05 or Nottingham. Batch size 7 g.

All weighed out. 13 lbs. 10oz. Ready to go. Time for a dog park walk.

Sounds good!

Low alcohol beer. A mate has been off alcohol while training for a marathon, so im kind of going along with it. Dramatically reducing consumption, but now looking at lower alcohol beers mid week.

Brewing a Doppelbock tomorrow. I plan to let it ferment a month or so, bottle and let it "lager" in my crawlspace for several months.
I looked up a recipe for the Skibsol you just brewed. Thinking of trying that, or maybe the one you pro-ammed last year. The idea of a smoked beer sounds very appealing to me; whether I can execute it or not is another matter entirely.

THe pro-am I did was a Grodziskie, with smoked wheat. The Skibsol uses barley--Rauchmalz, and is darker. I haven't tried the Skibsol yet (still conditioning), but I suspect it will taste kind of similar to the Grod.

If you like smoked beers, you can't go wrong with either style. Both are fairly straightforward to brew. If you're adventurous, brew them both and compare!

Double header for tomorrow:

Kveik IPA and a Dunkleweizen
Well the kveik I missed by .005 but I was using a new system so I'm not too upset.

Dunkle was spot on.

I really don't think I'm doing a double header again by myself. It was too much. With my brew buddy fine. But alone, no.

First beers I've made in 2 years so it was nice to get back at it!!
