Gonna try to brew 10 g of Scottish Wee Heavy AND 10 g BM's centenial blonde. Probably wont brew at all though. Wifeys job is really getting in the way

My most efficient/productive day yet because I...

Brewed 10 gallons of IPA (1.062 OG that will be Amarillo dry-hopped)
Kegged 5 gallons of Red Ale (During mash)
Bottled 5 gallons of Pale Ale (During boil)
Had a quick lunch with my parents while enjoying homebrew (During boil)
Kegged 5 gallons of Pale Ale (During cooling)

...all under 6 hours.

That is efficiency at its finest. Nice Brew Day!

I'm going to try to do 11 gallons each of dopplebock, CDA, and ESB. We'll see, I may have to postpone one batch until Tuesday.

Ellicit, would you mind sharing that recipe with me? My wife asked me to make a keg of Corona, so I have to give it a shot sometime soon.

I hope to be making this one on Saturday AM. It's a recipe that I put together while sitting at my desk. I've got 70z of both Cascade and Pearle in my freezer to work with.

85% 9lb American Two-row Pale
9% 1lb Wheat Malt
5% 8oz Carared
0% ½oz Carafa III (I'll be adding this grain by grain with tweezers)

boil 60 mins 0.5 Pearle pellet
boil 60 mins 0.5 Cascade pellet
boil 10 mins 0.25 Pearle pellet
boil 10 mins 0.25 Cascade pellet
boil 5 mins 0.5 Cascade pellet
boil 5 mins 0.5 Pearle pellet
boil 1 min 1.0 Pearle pellet
boil 1 min 1.0 Cascade pellet

SafAle American Ale

Surely,
8.5# pale pilsner 2 row
12 oz flaked maize
.5# Rice Hulls
(for Extract use 5.5# extra light DME and corn sugar)
.5# corn sugar
.75oz Tettnanger (90 min)
(Use 1 oz at 60min for extract)
.5oz Saaz (10 min)
White Labs WLP940 Mexican Lager Yeast (this is the key to the true clone)

Keep secondary in a well (indirect) sun lit area (you want it to skunk)

Also, for an easy just to make a Corona Clone,
Muntons makes a Mexican Cerveza kit that is damn near identical if you simply upgrade the yeast to the White Labs WLP940 Mexican Lager Yeast and skunk.

Shelly Belly, those pics are GREAT! That's quite the full mash tun!
I can't wait until I have clean up guy(s). I only have mess makers, but he likes stirring and thinks the mash smells good. I made an American Blonde on Saturday in the kitchen while watching the boys. Well I heated the strike and sparge water in the kitchen and boiled in the garage. It would have been a great brew day if it wasn't for a super stuck mash. We got through that and it went smooth after that.

45 minutes in to my mash and heatin' my sparge water. Brewin' up 11g clone of Kona's Big Wave Gold Ale.

Had a really good brew day on Saturday afternoon - 5 gallon batch of what I hope will be my house pale ale!

Recipe:

9.0 lbs. Rahr Pale Ale Malt
1.0 lbs. Caramel 20L

1.0 oz. Palisade (7.6%) @ 60
0.5 oz. Palisade (7.6%) @ 15, 10, 5, flameout

Wyeast 1272 American Ale II

Lessons learned:

-- Whirlpooling was a waste of time (for me), and ineffective
-- Not going to use regular vinyl 1/2" tubing on my kettle cause it's so damn hard to get on/off the barb - switching to thermoplastic
-- Palisade hops smell realllll good

Session was around 4 hrs long - not too shabby for only my 4th all grain!
