After having read about saving money by reusing yeast I decided to give it a try. I collected 4 pints of slurry from my last batch (Wyeast 1332). I was lazy and just poured it into sanitized mason jars. That was 1 month ago and now I have about 1 cup of thick slurry in each jar with about a cup of beer over the top of each. I typically brew 8 gallon batches.

My question(s) is/are #1 Do you think the yeast is still viable? #2 What kind of pitching rate would you suggest? #3 Should I just use the slurry to make a new starter and if so how much slurry do I pitch into a 2-3 liter starter?

Thanks!
