I want to brew a beer similar to a shiner bock. I dont have a way to lager, because I don't have any way of keeping it cold enough to ferment. Is there anyway around this, to make a beer like a shiner bock but not lager it?

And how are people lagering brew if they don't live were natural tempatures will keep it cold enough? I live in south Texas so it really doesn't get cold enough.

I have done Austin Homebrew Supply's Shiner clone about 8 times now and have never used lager temps. I think it turns out fine. Do you best, but room temp (or a bit cooler if you can) has worked for me. Last one was 3 weeks ago and just used a garage here in Austin.

Did you use the lager yeast it comes with or did you use another type of yeast? If so what kind did you use?

Don't you southern guys know about refrigeration? I thought that that concept would have made it all the way to Texas by now.

Well, the old lady isn't going to let me take over our refrigerator and I have no room for another one. refrigerator that is, not the old lady.

You should use the yeast it comes with whether you are lagering or at room temperature. Both will turn out fine.

It is in there.

A while back, when I lived in Canada, I ordered kits from AHS. With no local homebrew shop I had to rely on their kits being complete.... and they always were.

Hello there fellow Texans! I was wondering if you all have tried several of the AHS clones. If you look under the "50 cent beer" section, you can find their generic clones.

Also, are the clones from the 50 cent section the same ones as the ones in the "commercial clones" section. For example, in the 50 cent section they offer a "texas bock", which says it resembles shiner bock in the description. In the commercial clone section they offer a "shiner clone" which costs the same. I'm wondering if they are the same kit, or similar. (I'm a cheap scape :D)

P.S. I added you all as friends, I'm from Laredo.
