Hi all,

I brewed a Belgian witbier using the Midwest supplies kit. However I added about a 1/2 cup of honey to the boil.

I did my first SG reading tonight, ten days after the starting fermentation. My OG wasn't able to be done because the consistency was too thick. I couldn't find if this is good or not? Still a little confused on how to evaluate the hydrometer readings. ImageUploadedByHome Brew1409031181.919375.jpg am i looking okay?

Looks like about 1.008. Lot of bubbles at the meniscus so it is hard to tell. Bubbles might be CO2 in the beer. Take another SG reading in three days. If the readings are the same fermentation is complete and FG has been reached. A few more days in the primary after FG has been reached will allow sediment to drop out. The CO2 will hold sediment in solution as it off gases.
Her is a link to John Palmers old book that is on line. Good section in there on using a hydrometer and correcting the SG reading for the sample temperature.
