Apologies if this is somewhere else in this forum ;

Anyone make 5 gal of 1.04 OG wort from DME and pitch their starter into it in order to grow a large quantity of yeast?

Basically, I'd like to gather a large quantity of a strain so that I don't have to overgrow my starter and save some yeast each time or buy new yeast and make a stater each time I brew.

There's no reason you couldn't do that. If you kept that around for a few months you should be fine with out a starter.

I've used yeast that I've kept refrigerated up to a year later. I restart it with a new starter at that point though.
