I have an opportunity to pick up a lightly used 4911 for cheap and I'm planning on doing the kegerator conversion. Is there any relevant difference between the 4911 and the 4912 that would change the conversion process?

Quick answer, NO apreciable difference.
I believe both will work great. I think the interior shelving glass/metal is different and the interior width is different as the shelves are supported by the fridge liner. I also bought a 4910 or 4911 used. Great value! Just haven't converted yet.
