So I recently brewed an Oatmeal Stout using US-05, and a Guinness clone using WYeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast.

I collected and washed yeast for each one of these but then put them in the fridge without labeling them. So now I have 2 nice canned yeast strains, but no idea which one is which...

I will be brewing an Irish Red tomorrow, and another batch of Guinness on Tuesday. I had planned on throwing the US-05 in the Red and the 1084 back into the Guinness but now I'm not sure what to do.

Plan 1 is to just toss one strain into the Red and the other into the Guinness knowing that both will make beer and life will go on.

Plan 2 is to make a mixed starter with both strains and see what happens. Maybe it will end up being my new "House" yeast mix.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Making starters with them right? ...Why not just taste the starters before pitching to determine which is which.

I've never tasted a starter before. I don't think i would know what it should taste like...
