I was wondering if it is possible to put the used steeping grains in a pot with about 2 gallons of water and let it cold steep and then add it to the fermenter to top off to 5 gallons instead of using just water?

Best regards,
Nick

ok I did not know if it was something to avoid or not. I am all for experimenting so I will proceed! Thanks!

Also, boil your make-up water after re-steeping the grains (and before topping off the fermenter). The grains can contain lots of spoilage organisms that would be unwanted in the fermenter.
