I'm in the process of trying to put together a MLT using a 48 quart Coleman cooler. I've tried to read up on all the different designs I could for this and decided I'd go with the SS mesh braid from a 48" washing machine hose. After cutting off the connectors I'm having a heck of a time even starting to get off the mesh. I've read it's something like the Chinese finger trap method but I can't even get it started. Any suggestions? Thanks.

False alarm. I just tried it again and I must've done something right by mistake because I ended up being able to pull it right out without a problem. Back to the build!:D

Another question. I saw somewhere that someone wound 16 gauge galvanized wire into something like a spring and slid it inside the mesh to give it some support. Is galvanized ok to use?

sjlammer, I'm in western mass.

I was planning on using the mesh braid to make a loop to lay on the bottom of the cooler hooking each end onto a "T". After watching a few videos of people mashing I'm wondering if it's such a good idea now. I'm not sure what will happen to it with all the stirring during the mash. I know I saw a video of someone else using a looped mesh braid that way but I see others just have it laid out straight. In the end I guess it really doesn't matter as long as it doesn't come off, right? Or am I missing something?
