You know you don't have to respond to a question if you don't want to; right?

I use the search feature quite a bit, but sometimes after reading through dozens of threads don't find exactly what I'm looking for.

agreed.

i see this in forums all to often. if you see a dumb/redundant question just move on and dont read/answer it.

as new people join and new products come out, re asking similar questions can yield new info.

My first post here on HBT WAS "I dropped my grommet into my beer- so I duct taped the airlock in place and walked away- is my beer ruined?"

5 years later, I'm moderating the biggest homebrew forum on the internet.

Awesome post!! Too bad there's no rep system here so I could +1 you for that.

*EDIT - come to think of it I'd have no rep power at 60 posts anyway lol. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

My first post here on HBT WAS "I dropped my grommet into my beer

that was my first post as well, and probably a lot of peoples first post. I bet there's LOTS of threads on that. I'm glad someone told me don't sweat it your beer will be fine, instead of scoffing that I didn't do a search first

I honestly think noob questions make it alot easier for me to find the information I need. Sometimes I don't even have to search for my problem someone as it is right at the top of the new threads a noob posted and Revvy, Yooper or any of the fine members here have either answered it or posted a link to where the answer would be found. I was a member of this board for a whole year just reading everything (while still brewing) before I made my first post.

I remember mentally checking stuff off as I read the noob post like: don't bother even paying attention to the airlock, Mr. Beer is wrong about how long it takes to carb a beer, and my beer is not infected and the odds that it ever will be is insanely slim. Along with my toyota tacoma board (people are a bit meaner there but good info all about in that one) this board rules.
