I'm brewing a Pale Ale. I have corn sugar and about 4-4.5 gallons sitting in a carboy. About how much corn sugar do I use? And do I need to heat it in water first? Thanks :tank:

PS. I know the basics as far as bottling, etc. Just need a little more info. on the priming before I actually go though with it.

Use the bottle priming calculator on http://www.tastybrew.com to figure out how much sugar to use. Once you know how much sugar to use, dissolve that amount of sugar in water and boil for a couple minutes. Cool and add to the beer. The way I usually do it is the pour the priming solution in the bottling bucket then rack to the bottling bucket. The swirling action from the racking will provide adequate mixing to carbonate your beer properly.
