Probably not much cooler, despite their reputation.

Plums (5 varieties)from the windbreak across the field, planted by the village. Even with high temps and almost no rain, the plum tree branches are hanging low with all the fruit. And this fall there will be a massive hazelnut harvest also. These are community assets, anyone can help themselves.

We started our obx trip last week with rain our first day, beautiful the rest of the week, then we finished it with a quick storm, this pic was from the evening of our last day there.

We used to vacation out on the OBX, up in Corolla. It had just been built out at the time, with the road dead-ending just above. If it's like everywhere else development has likely pushed quite a ways further north by now.

We go south though I've heard good things about Corolla.. we started around nags head but got to congested, we've been going down to Avon for the past several years, much more chill, less busy, but still close enough to markets and whatnot.
